I just got a letter in the mail from USC stating "your application has completed the preliminary review and will remain under consideration until the class is finalized in early August."

Are they suggesting the preliminary review is for the pre-dec 1st interview slots? Or is this letter a polite rejection? My AADSAS application was sent out sept 22 so maybe it wasn't soon enough for the pre-dec 1st consideration. Thanks in advance for any replies.

no i don't think it means you got rejected. I got one saying that they have received everything as well. They will send you an email if you get an interview. You should be fine if you turned it in September. I would not worry but if you are then I would call the school and ask what it means. Hope this helps.

there's another thread about the letter floating around...I got the letter too :/

The letter is just to notify that they have received your application. I got it as well and then I had an interview invite via email about 3-4 weeks after that letter. So, just wait and be patient!!

Someone can add info regarding their admission process..

That is to say,

What it means to have "remain under consideration"?
------>Chances to have interview

What it means to have interview after December at USC?
------>Chances to be accepted

I do care why USC doesn't send me a love call, yet.

It's one of my top choices.

Should I give up another my top choice? 😡

I hope the same happens to me! I would have to guess then the "preliminary review" must be a quick screen for GPAs or DAT scores below the cutoffs. I couldn't imagine USC fully reviewing my application after it's been there for just 2 weeks.
