...and annoying...has anyone looked at it? or started? I dont know which ones apply to us and which don't. also, you can pick that you're applying to the school of pharmacy, but you must also pick an intended program of study as well...(regulatory science (M.S.), patient and product safety (certif.), Clincal Reseach Design and management (certif.), or food safety (certif.)..what the heck are all those? i can't find it on the USC pharm pages. Also, the supplemental forms portion is wack.

any help, would be appriciated. thanks so much!

i thought USC supplemental applications weren't avaiable until June 19. Where can I get the forms you are looking at?

i came across the USC supplemental link while i was looking through the USC site.. i think its up.. but you need to go through graduate studies or something

hey mixdown did you download the transcript cover pages yet? do you know where I can find the country code? it says see page 22?

Does anybody know about pharmacy supplemental i

what did you put for the "intended program of study" or whatever....isn't it supposed to say like PharmD? or something? It has other werid stuff...

I went ahead and registered for the supplemental application because this is not even close to what I had to do for 2007. I must say I honestly have no clue. I have no desire to do research, I'm not sure what I'd do. My best guess is to call and say I'm not interested in research, I just want a PharmD so I can work retail. (or hospital in my case.) See what they say.

It seems that the supplementals for USC are only for research based certificates or degrees (MS PhD) None of the professonal degrees are currently offered (PharmD, MD, DDS). I guess its the wait and see game right now...

This is weird! Maybe USC is suddenly switching their PharmD curriculum to a research-oriented one. Haha just guessing, I don't know

Hi, it's just helly confusing, and among them, I chose clinical research and management, because I didn't see any Pharm D, ...

also, the supplemental application, it says pharm D supplemental application, but then all the questions related to research ,blah, blah, blah 😕😱
but really appreciate farmcyst for trying to help. Thank you so muchhhhhhhhhhhh

i think we should just wait a few more days, until the 19th at least to see if they change the supp applications.

so i'm guessing, that since they're using this new 2 step process for applying to their pharmD program, they haven't uploaded the necessary supp apps to the graduate application page.

so my question is... do we send our transcripts to their graduate admissions, or to their pharm admissions here: http://www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/pharmd/contact/index.html

I believe it said Pharmacy Supplemental, not PharmD supplemental. That may be a subtle but important difference if indeed they plan to have a different supplemental for the PharmD program. I don't think that's the case, but only a call to USC for clarification would resolve the issue at this point it seems.

Yeah, it only says "Pharmacy Supplemental". And the questions are for pharmacutical programs....so that is us...but the questions are kinda funky. I guess I'll call tomorrow if I remeber.

Okay, I went through the entire graduate supp. application online, and I do not see these questions anywhere on there. This means I'm missing something. Can someone point me in the correct direction. Where are these questions coming from? I can't seem to find Part II of the application too =(

on the left hand side near the bottom, if you click on "Pharmacy Supplemental"....

Okay! I found it! I guess all the stress is getting to me... Thank you for your help!

I spoke with an admissions rep at the Welcome reception tonight. Apparently there is a separate supplemental for PharmD. It was supposed to be linked to the grad supplemental at the bottom of the first page. She said there had been issues with it, but she's pretty sure it's been fixed now. I'd double check before submitting the supplemental if you haven't already. The one about research is for the PhD and Regulatory Sciences programs.

Right now, it looks the same as the first time I saw it...
so i'm assuming we just fill out the:

I finally had a chance to take a look at usc's two step app. and I think we all agree its a bit confusing...I had a question about the employment info..it says:
"Upload your resume or curriculum vitae.
Please adhere to specific requirements for the resume or curriculum vitae, as established by the school or college for your chosen program of study. " But on the instructions page it just says submit our resume...so is there no guideline as to how its suppose to be structured? Thanks

Hi guys, just answering my own question above...i called usc and we don't need to upload a resume...they said just enter your employment info

Good luck!

I called USC the other day and asked about how long our resume should be and she said preferably one page and not over two pages..
Doesn't that mean they want us to upload our resume?😕

they put me on hold for 15+ minutes, i just hung up. did anyone else have this problem?

Did anyone here take classes from two or more different colleges? If so, how do you calculate your cumulative GPA? Did you take the GPA from your main campus or did you calculate it yourself? USC asks for cumulative GPA, and I've take about 17 units from another school and I'm not sure what do with them.

And also, I noticed that USC requires on two letters of recommendations. If you submit more, lets say 3, will they look at them all or randomly choose 2 to look at?

THANK YOU!

Okay, I found the answer to my first question about the GPA. It was provided on the link: http://www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/...plication.html

Does anyone know anything about the second question, about the letter of rec.? Thanks!

Regarding the LORs, it says they need to be submitted with the supplemental application. This means they're different than the ones you'll send PharmCAS. I'd say if you submit the max (3) LORs to PharmCAS and two to USC, you really wouldn't need any more. If you think you need more than 5, I'd call them to find out.

From my understanding of your reply, they will read the letters from PharmCAS and the additional two letters I have to send in with my supplemental application. So the extra have to be different (with a total of 5)? I assumed that USC was like Western in that they do not read the ones sent into PharmCAS and only read the ones that are sent in with their supplemental application. Is this assumption incorrect?

And thank you Farmercyst!!! You've replied to so many of my questions. I would be utterly lost without your help!

The 2nd step of the app as in the PharmD supplemental? Did you have to submit the graduate application before getting the PharmD supplmental? I'm pretty confused with this also, any help is appreciated.

To whitedc5,

On USC's website there is a page on "How to Apply"...so the breakdown is that their application is a two-step process. First you submit the graduate school application, DO NOT HIT THE PHARMACY SUPPLEMENTAL BUTTON ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. From my understanding this is for the Ph.d program hence the research based questions. Then once you submit the graduate app. you will be provided with a link to the pharm. D. supplemental where you'll be given the essay questions.

This is what I understood from the process, hope it helps =)

Edit: but I haven't turned my graduate app. in yet...so don't quote me.

This is what the admissions lady said at the welcome reception (I dont remember her name, sorry). Yes, submit the application and then at the bottom of the submission page should be a link for the PharmD supplemental.

I can submit a dummy supplemental if you don't want to submit yours just to see if you get a link. Since I'm not submitting a PharmCAS application, anything I submit should just go into the trash after the deadline anyway.🙄

I never read anywhere that Western doesn't read your LORs from PharmCAS. It would explain why they want three more. I'm not sure why someone would use PharmCAS, have you duplicate almost the entire pharmcas application in their supplemental, and not read PharmCAS LORs. What, then, would be the point of using PharmCAS. (rhetorical question, but one I'd like USC to answer.) I'm hoping my assumption is correct that they do read all 5, but I've been wrong before. I'd shoot them an email or call them to find out. While 5 looks almost excessive, 2 looks downright skimpy.

^^My thoughts exactly, BUT I called USC today and they said that they DON'T read the PharmCAS LORs. That's what the lady told me, so don't hold this against me. USC is requiring all this additional stuff (LORs, whole sets of transcripts) so I don't even know why they still use PharmCAS?? Such a hassle... :scared:

I guess it's all about the MONEY eh.... since... we have to pay Pharmacas for sending the stuff to USC and west .... in short... they just want to have our money...

how did everyone calculate their culmulative gpa for the graduate application? Did all of you calculate it by hand? I was just wondering if there is a quicker way...😕

I did that by hand... added all courses grade points and divided that by total units..🙂

I calculated by using excel and following the rules listed on Pharmcas. It just takes a while to plug in all the grades into the spreadsheet, but after that, calculating the GPA was a breeze. I LOVE EXCEL!!!

You need to get your graduate application done before you can access to the PharmD application. Good Luck!

thanks for all the help....guess I have to bust out my trusty calculator and start adding....or excel. We'll see =)

Hi, I have questions regarding the supplemental essays

there're 5000 characters limit for each answer. However, does is really matter if you go way below the charaters limit, what I mean is for question number 1 which is "What have you done to prepare for admission and a career in pharmacy? (Re-applicants should focus on specific things -activities, additional educational studies, etc. - which strengthen the file from the previous application.)"

My answer has only 1025 characters since I don't know what to write more,
could you please give some advice ?

Did you guys add a PS for the the "Supporting Documents" section, that says "Statement of Purpose"?

thanks!

Hi mixdown, you don't need to, because they said it's optional, you submited your PS through PHarmcas, and that's enough

Although if there was something you wanted to include in your PS, but had to leave out because of space consideration, this may be a place you could insert it.

I don't know if anyone wants to, but could someone who has gotten to the supplemental please post the essay prompts? I want to start thinking about them, but I haven't finished the grad app yet...

(Thanks ngocxit for one of them!)

If anyone feels especially kind and generous, I would definitely appreciate it! 😍

Here they are:

USC Application Issue Essays Prompts:

  • What have you done to prepare for admission and a career in pharmacy? (Re-applicants should focus on specific things -activities, additional educational studies, etc. - which strengthen the file from the previous application.)
  • If you believe that your college transcripts or your resume does not adequately portray your past performance or your future promise as a pharmacist, please feel free to explain on a separate sheet the reasons for the disparity; for example, employment, extracurricular activities, personal characteristics or illness.
  • .What unique, personal qualities and/or life experiences will you bring to your pharmacy career?.
You must answer #1 and choose either #2 or #3. Good Luck!
