Got a letter today tells me to retake it since my math is 14.
When i look on predents last year, several people got interview with a 14.
I am really grateful i got other interviews so far. But i am just mad that the Adcom at USC just blatantly ignored that i have improved on majority of my application.

What were your other scores and gpa? I recently took my DAT and got a 15 on QR so that has me a little worried.

How many of those that interviewed got accepted? Maybe they don't want to invite people to interview they know they won't accept due to a low score on the DAT.

A buddy of mine who is applying too has a 14 QR and already has 4 interviews. His GPA is high, great LORs, extra currics are great, and he has worked in two dental offices and for a medical doctor.

As long as everything else is in order, QR is the least important part of the DAT so I wouldn't be worried unless you are applying to top tier schools.

at least they're giving you a 2nd chance to improve your application rather than flat out rejecting you

well, this is my second time applying and i also retook DAT. As you can see on my predents, i got AA=22, TS=25.

just maddddddd

USC is missing out. your lucky its USC's guidelines that are like this and not Buffalo's.

Some schools set standards and minimum scores and they go by the their rules.

Just like if a school requires a bachelor's degree...it doesn't matter if you're 4.0 and 30 DAT, you're not getting in unless you have that degree

BTW, I'll let you guys know of the cirruculm changes in october when they will announce the new direction of the school.

I think the only reason they asked you to retake is because their cutoff is 15, i cant see another reason for them asking for a retake with such a great TS and AA. But like someone else said at least be glad they didnt flat out reject you. Good luck!

Those guidelines they set are not as stringent as you may think, my buddy got a USC interview offer right away and got a 14 QR, I got one with a 16 QR. Same thing with Indiana, they have a strict cutoff of 18 on RC but they have rejected people with insane scores but a lower RC and have offered interviews to people with 17 RC's. I think it has to do with your overall application and whether they want to offer you an interview, not just based off of a QR score, although they told you to re-take the DAT but why not my buddy? Weird process....

my best friend (and roommate) just got the same letter...I really should study harder for the math portion because his math is way stronger than mine and I am planning on taking the test in a couple of months.

edit: also due to a 14 QR...other sections are solid
