I luckily have been accepted to both schools and can't decide for the life of me where to go. It is my goal to do a 6yr md integrated oral surgery residency which USC does have, and bu does not. Other points to consider: Board scores, Specializing rates, quality of education/faculty, pbl vs traditional lecture. Can anyone shed some light and help me make this decision?

I think you answered your own question - "6yr md integrated oral surgery residency...USC does have, and bu does not."

BU:

Board scores - generally, BU is very bad. Half my class failed or had to retake part of the Nat'l Board pt 1.

Specializing rates - the rates are similar, but a lot of BU's are forced to do GPR's because the students are clinically unprepared to work independently.

Quality of education/lectures - much of BU's teaching is not effective, proof is in the board scores and class attendance (which is mandatory). Most of the faculty are aloof and don't care to engage the students. It's pretty bad when students are at school during class hours, but aren't at the lecture because it's a waste of time and they can learn better on their own. Your grades on exams is directly related to access to the right past exams, not if you attend classes and pay attention, or how well/much you study.

Faculty - Are you interested in "sex-tra credit"? Can't beat BU for that.

Sounds a little one sided, but thank you for your comments. What do you know about USC? Why did you choose bu/didn't transfer? What are the pros of bu?

True. I went to BU, so that's the school I know best. I don't know much about USC's dental school, and I have limited knowledge of other dental schools in boston.

I chose BU because I thought it was a good school when I interviewed, but in hindsight I was totally misled. I tried to transfer but logistically and economically it was impossible.

The only pro I can think of is that in a way, the school is much easier than others. You don't need to be a good student or have good skills to get top grades there. Their system is really easy to manipulate. It's a double edged sword because you could be a great student and have exceptional skills and still get poor grades.

Did you already graduate from BU?
