Hey Sleepy,

I took the Prime Shuttle (the one recommended by USC) which was cheaper than the Super Shuttle.

From Vagabond Inn, I walked to the School of Dentistry. It's literally like 3 blocks away.

Thanks lots Penny!
This will be my first time in Cali so I was kinda worried about getting to the interview and everything okay. It's great to know that it's only 3 blocks away👍.

I'll have my interview at USC next week and I will like to know if I have to turn in a 2x2 pic that day (USC AADSAS supplemental information requires one)... So, those who already interviewed at USC might be able to give me some feedback. Thanks!!

hey penny how did the interview go for u? was it more laid back or more like ur competing w a group of people since its group interviews?

Did everyone hand-write their secondary applications for USC?

Took a couple weeks for me to get mine (I interviewed 9/29 and received post-interview packet on 10/13) even though I'm in CA so if you haven't gotten yours yet, I wouldn't worry.

Did everyone hand-write their secondary applications for USC?

People either hand-wrote it all or converted the pdf to a word doc using a program or online converter. If you put more time/effort/worry into what you are writing, you will be fine.

I hand wrote my secondary and got a post-interview candidate several days later. I would not worry too much about hand writing it the secondary as long as it is legible. 🙂

I received a snail mail letter today from USC that starts off, "This is to bring you up-to-date on the status of the processing of your application...Your application has completed the preliminary review and will remain under consideration until the class is finalized in early August."

Is this the same letter that others received and means deferred admission?

Interesting interview...If you've ever wondered what a "who's got the biggest d!ck" contest looks like, you're in for a treat.

:laugh::laugh: Was it really that competitive?? Were all the groups like that?

I felt that it was very competitive and the discussion was unlike any PBL session I've ever seen (I've taken a PBL course in undergrad). It was just a bunch of people trying to cut each other off. I'm really not sure about any of the other groups. I didn't get a chance to ask anyone from the other color groups.

I watched one Arabic Fat girl who raised her voice all the time during PBL section. I realized why she got that fat. She tried to get all the attentions. She may think that she was good on PBL, but ADCOM will see her with different perspective. She never listen to others. So funny

Haha that's a bit harsh isn't it??

Looks like you guys just just got bad luck with your groups. My group seemed to be pretty good in terms of letting everyone get their ideas in... The session actually left me with a really good impression of PBL.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good group. I've taken some PBL courses in undergrad, too, which was why I was surprised to hear that. The object isn't to cut people off and be loud haha. Hope you get accepted in spite of that!! :xf:

My group was pretty good too. I had a good impression of PBL and USC.

It just kinda sucks for people who have bad luck and get stuck with bad groups (or bad interviewers). It makes me realize how dental school admission isn't all about stats; sometimes it's about luck too... :scared:

I loved my group today. Everyone was listening and supportive to each other. I thought i could actually pull this PBL stuff off for next four year with no problem.

o and i dunno why people dog on USC so much? its a really nice school, yes it's expensive, but the environment (LA) is sweet and the faculty is nice! ryan sandy and brian were real cool down to earth people. and i had a very good impression of pbl, im rdy for change no more of that memorize regurgitate stuff

Good job Yellow Group. I thought we all did a good job presenting the case. USC seems to be an amazing place. Good luck Busta and Annonymuz.

Hey minotaur congrate! when did you get an interview? is it by email? and when was your mailing date? sorry for asking too many questions at once 😳

No worries 🙂 I got the interview invite by email Oct 28th with a choice of 4 dates. My mailing date was 7/30 but I had a hiccup with my LOR so my app wasn't considered complete until around 9/24. Feel free to ask more questions. Your stats look good, I don't see why you wouldn't get an invite 🙂

minotaur-congrats on your invite! When did you get your "passed preliminary review" letter in the mail? Good luck with the rest of your apps!

Hi,
I got one scheduled for the 17th as well!

I read on the interview feedback page that they passed around a bucket with questions and each person read the question aloud and then answered them in front of the group.
Does anyone know what kind of questions they ask? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

cat,

do not sterss over the usc "interview". the questions are silly, such as who would you meet in history, whos your biggest inspiration etc. its obvious they are only weeding out the crazy ppl. being one of the most exp schools in the country, they hand out many more acceptances than most schools.

the mailing date for the preliminary review was Oct 21

what was the name of the lady who gave first introduced us to usc with the powerpoint presentation?
