I'll be there for my 9th consecutive USCAP, whoot whoot!
It is nice though to finally be having just my name on the posters without having to make them! Man I used to hate having that deadline. Whoot Whoot!👍

today's the day they said we should know by -- anyone heard anything from these guys?
I would recommend going no matter what if you can fit it in. It is very educational.
I am not the primary submitter for anything but the 5 times I did, every time it was accepted. In fact I can't remember anyone getting rejected, but it must happen sometimes.
Does anybody know the odds on getting rejected?

No doubt. Bummer cities recently. The worst was Denver when it was like ten degrees. I mean WTF. It should rotate between sf ny la lv and Miami
It should only be at places that are close to the airport. Denver was annoying because the airport was 45 minutes away. San Diego was very close. Vegas would be close. New York would be the worst choice imaginable, apart from maybe Tokyo. Chicago would also not be optimal. LA would be a horrible choice because it would probably be in somewhere like Anaheim.
I seriously select conferences to go to based on
1) How close they are to the airport
2) How many food options there are that are quick.
San Diego failed on part 2. Denver was so-so on #2 but failed on #1. DC was fantastic, in my view, for last year's conference. But unfortunately there is no big conference center there for lots of posters so it won't be going back.
I know several people who went to the San Diego USCAP years ago...they had such a good time that I wished I had entered pathology a few years earlier.
Next year's meeting is in Vancouver, I think. Now a meeting in Vancouver should be a blast!

Yeah that should be a good city for USCAP. Expensive though!
at one time SF used to host it. But b/c of costs, big cities like NY and LA likely won't work, or if they do they'll be booked just outside the city in the boondocks at a big but cheap hotel. I'd like to see Las Vegas as well, ASCP has been a frequent flier of Sin City.

Going to be cold up there in late Feb/early March, but it will straight up awesome though.

I also have a Monday morning poster presentation.
Many residency programs claim that they are in the top x% of programs in terms of USCAP poster presentations.
Is there an official measure (and reference source) for this or does each program just make it up based on subjective back-of-the-envelope calculations?

USCAP sends out a official letter stating that the program is in the top X% of programs with accepted abstracts. For my program this was posted on the bulletin board outside the resident room saying we were in the top 10%.
It feels like my entire program is going this year. I wonder who got stuck behind to gross all the colons?
In my day that was the chief resident. At least, it was their problem, and the program refused to not let anyone go who got anything accepted, so it could easily default to the chief. The program director was pretty much told it was gonna be -their- problem if they ignored the chief's plans to deal with it. But, thankfully we had a PA who ultimately could handle the total load for a day or two, and a couple of clued in attendings who wouldn't balk at the prospect of doing some big cases themselves if necessary, so it never really got ugly -- just briefly tense.
