Hi,

I have been told that USCSD is extremely hard to get into--about 4% or so. Is that true? What do you guys think a competitve undergrad GPA and DAT score would be?

Thanks for you help,
Marie

USCSD is no harder to get into than any other dental school. Some may even argue that it could be somewhat easier to get into secondary to price (as suggested in other threads).

Just aim for 4.0 GPA and 30 DAT and you should be ok.

USC's seat:applicant ratio for the class starting 2005 was 6%, so surely their acceptance rate is MUCH higher than that.

USC is one of the easier schools to get into because, as another poster said, price. Also, the school is going through some problems now which may make the school even easier to get into??

jb!🙂

Thanks for your help!! I appreciate it!!

Definitely is the best time to apply to SC Dental if your GPA and DAT scores are average or somewhat below average. However, if you have check out the many posts regarding the school, you are better off exploring other schools while all the horrible mess at SC gets resolved. I guess you should consider SC your "safety" school....but...is it really "safe?" :scared:

dude I'm so pissed because I chose USC thinking it would be "better" than the large class and frenetic pace at NYU. But if SC's program really is that horrid, there is nothing working for me. I think i barely like LA and already know i like NY as a city. ahhh it's too late to beg back a spot at NYU (where I was accepted) isn't it?

If you are very sure want to go to NYU, were accepted but declined admission, you could contact NYU's admissions office and let them know that if a seat opened up on their wait list, you would love to go there. They should still have your admissions information on file. Tell them that you made a very difficult decison when you declined NYU's admission and realize now it was a very big mistake. Tell them that NYU is right for you and are 100% certain of this. See what they say. You have nothing to lose, be sincere and see what happens. Good Luck.
