Hello all!

Does anyone know if there is a precedent or possibility that schools will take a letter from my advisor as one of my two science letters? I did not really speak to any of my professors throughout undergrad and have only been able to find one professor willing to write a letter. Communication with my former professors is difficult given that I live across the country; they have not really responded to email.

I have considered taking another course, but financial and time constraints make it an unlikely possibility. There are approximately 10 schools that I can apply to with the science letter I do have, but I'm considered that my stats are necessarily stellar enough to earn enough interviews to secure an admission.

Thanks so much!

I am pretty sure that advisers letters do not count as science letters, because you have earned 0 credit hours from the adviser. I am not 100% sure on this, but that was what I gathered from previous applications

Don't you have a committee letter when you have a pre-med advisor? If the letter is from an advisor who is not a professor and has never taught you in a science course, it would not qualify as a science LOR. Your best course of action is to request a committee letter without having to worry about multiple letters from science professors.

I'm not sure if this helps, but my advisor who will be writing my committee letter also taught a science course I took. According to the our department, this will qualify as one of my science letters.

No it will not qualify as a science letter. Also just because you have a pre-med advisor doesn't mean you have a committee letter.
