Using acroynms for diseases in essays?

Trying to stay within character count is hard for some secondary essays, and I'm curious if we can just give the acronym of a disease especially if we mentioned it already in our AMCAS experiences section and personal statement. Like ADHD, TB, CGD? I assume they would them anyways but i wrote the whole thing out to be safe, but now I need the space. What do you guys think?

I think ADHD, TB etc. are pretty well known. Abbreviating them is fine.

I agree those are fine. For esoteric disease names, you might want to write out full names for the first time then use acronyms.

Define them the first time you use it, and then use abbreviations after that.
