Hi...
I have a question.

I took the June 18 MCAT. I don't think I did that well so I registered for an August MCAT. I am still waiting for the grade to come out and then I will decide if I want to go on and retake it.

However, I want the less competitive schools (that are also usually rolling) to read my application based on the first mcat ,while the more competitive schools (that are usually non-rolling) to wait for my other mcats.

How do I do that?

Do I put on my AMCAS that I'm taking the August test? But in that case the non-competitive schools will hold until September to receive my grade. Do I just leave it the way it is? But then even the competitive schools will start reading my application...

Really confused here.. Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks.

All of your MCAT scores are automatically loaded onto AMCAS and every school you list on AMCAS can see those scores.

I know that.. but if schools don't know I will be taking the August MCAT they will download my application and start reading it. How do I make the competitive ones wait?

You can't

You have to say that there is another mcat score on the way so that the competitive schools will wait.

otherwise everyone will just look at your other score.

you either make all schools wait, or all schools download and read. if you do make them all download now, they will still get your new mcat score when it's available. unless you get an interview, then interview, and then get accepted or denied by a school before your second scores are available, this second school will still affect your decision.

I have no idea why you would want to do this, but you could just say no future MCAT on AMCAS then call your more competitive schools to let them know the application is incorrect and that you are actually taking the August MCAT. You wouldn't be the first person to answer the question incorrectly.

Thanks!! That was really helpful 🙂

and scottyT, I am doing this because I don't want to be late for schools that use rolling admissions but at the same time I want the non-rolling schools to see my second score.
