using experiences pre-college for secondaries?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is this frowned upon? Most of my adversity and diversity experiences were from pre-college.
For adversity and diversity? No, those can certainly be pre-college! You may have been diagnosed with CF at 4 years old, you may have fled South Sudan at 9 years old, you may have lost both your mother and grandmother to breast cancer and opted to receive an elective mastectomy at 17.....Those are the extreme ones I can make up off the top of my head, but you get the picture.

What about for other topics such as proudest accomplishment and others?

I could imagine. Your proudest accomplishment could be graduating highschool as a single mother to a child you had when you were 16, you could have been an olympic medalist gymnast at 14, you could have presented a Ted Talk on your innovative and cheap wind turbine you invented out of scrap laying around your village at the age of 11.

Again, those are the extremes I can make up off the top of my head.

I used a high school experience for one of my secondary essays and I graduated high school 10 years ago. I tried to come up with something more recent, but was the only experience that answered the question, so I went for it. Fortunately it’s only for one school.
