Do you all think using last year's version (2010; 7th edition) would be alright? The new version (2011; 8th edition) just came out. I didn't realize they came out with a new version every year. Think enough has changed to warrant buying the newest version (another $50+ dollars)??? Thanks SDN'ers!

If you're talking about NAPLEX then yes, you should be fine, to be honest the APhA book is overkill in my opinion. In fact, if you exclude ESL students, and ask around you probably won't be able to find anyone who's ever failed NAPLEX. Just be really good at the calculations and you should be okay.

It's free with your APhA membership... you did pay the 'way less than $50' membership fee right?

oh... it should be fine. Aside from the year of the rewrite, the Naplex doesn't change all that quickly.
