I am not mentioning any patients names in my PS obviously, but can I mention the doctor's name that I worked with or just be generic? Should I mention my relatives' first names in my essay or just be generic by just referring to them with a letter, like my Aunt E?

I'm not sure what is appropriate.

I used the real name of one of the physicians I shadowed in my PS and just used a made-up name for patients. There's nothing wrong with just using your relatives' real first names. For what reason would you have to keep their names confidential?

No reason to keep them confidential. Thanks. I guess I was more unsure about whether to use the docs name. I don't my PS to look like I'm name dropping. She isn't a real prominent doc anyways, so I guess it should be ok.

I don't think it would matter either way, whether you listed the name or just mentioned the physician generically. Whatever you feel more comfortable doing.
