I was planning on taking the MCAT last summer, but changed my mind around July because I didn't feel like I would have enough time to study (taking on heavy courseloads to graduate). I'm planning to take the MCAT some time this coming summer. I took a Princeton Review Course, bought Examkracer review books and the 1001 series, the Berkeley Review books, the AAMC tests up to 8, and Audio Osmosis (that might sound excessive, but at the beginning of summer, I was in a nervous/obsessive phase and was afraid of doing poorly). Anyway, now that the MCAT format is changed, I don't know if I should get updated materials, especially online tests. I have a bunch of paper materials from last year, but all the tests are the 8-hour ones. I spent a lot of money on my existing materials, so I'm not sure if it's necessary to get more. On the other hand, if the format is changing, I should study the stuff that's more closely related to the actual MCAT, right? I was even thinking about taking another review course this summer, but I already have all this stuff, and, you know, I want to have enough money for dinner lol.

You don't need new study material. The subject matter hasn't changed -- just the way the test is administered.

When you get into the last stretch you should take the online AAMCs. They're $35 a pop, so taking a couple won't blow your budget. They'll help you get comfortable with the CBT delivery. Don't buy them now, though. Wait until you've finished your review and then start working on your test taking skills.
