using quotation in personal statment

Just curious. i had a quotation that i wanted to use in my personal statement from one of my medical anthropology textbooks. Can you use a quotation and do you have to site it?

I'm not the authority on whether or not you should, but if you do you had better cite it. At the very least say something like,

In his book TITLE, Dr/Mr Author said, "quote."
