Hi
I'm planning to take the NBDE part 1 in december 2003 and was wondering how every1 else is preparing.......

Majority of people in previous posts have stressed the importance of studying from the dental decks and released asda papers.

However, in my opinion thats simply not enough!!

Both the decks as well as released papers can be an excellent guide for prepping but since most of the foreign dentists have been out of touch with the basic sciences, i guess hitting the textbooks is a good idea.

Kindly post ur opinions and feedback.......

NBDE part 1 veterans (Henna, Yah-E etc)......ur feedback and advice will be highly appreciated by the rest of us.

Thanks a million

Thanks itsme!! The thread was really very helpful......

However, most students on that thread were currently in dental school and in touch with the subjects.

In my case, its been almost 4 - 5 years since i'd my basic science courses!!

With only 3 months to go for the boards, i'm wondering if its wise to study from the texts.......I'm really confused 😕

Anyway, thanks again for ur guidance and i would appreciate if u could share any further suggestions.

CHEERS 😎

hi tantrik 03

i am preparing for part 1 too and i am following the decks and papers and nothing else right now. i have been out of touch for several years too.

but kaplan and things like that are way too much material to finish in such a short time and i feel i might end up just being confused! try some high yield texts if u really want to do other books. they are better than voluminous stuff we dont need now. just my 2 cents of coz.

i felt that as i read the decks and did the papers i realized there were things i dint know on certain topics - and those are worth checking out in books rather than doing every little thing and wasting time.

studying more and remembering all of it will only help!! but dont get bogged down by too much!

these are just my ideas! i dont know how well it works since i havent given part 1 yet!!!!

all the best

Hi Tantrik 03,

maybe u shud concentrate on the decks and Q papers, and if u have any doubts while reading that u cud refer some text or kaplan. it is better to be thorough in whatever u read rather than reading a lot of stuff and not having time to revise.

itsme

You will need some books for reference if you have been out of touch for a while ( esp for biochem ). I read some USMLE books (as I didnt have any other option ) and it did help me understand the basics.
And I do agree with itsme.

Thanks every1 for ur inputs!!

I think i'll stick to the decks and asda papers for now......except, i agree, for biochem!!

Once i'm thorough with the above, only then will i try to read extra material from the texts.

The NBDE part 1 mostly deals with the basics.......but i just wanted to make sure that's the way every1 else feels!!

Thanks again all..........
