hello!

ok, i'm taking step II in like 5 days!! and i just started using usmleword and noticed that my scores really suck! i was going to take the exam about 1 month ago, and did a few kaplan qbank questions and i was averaging about 75% without studying. then i decided not to take the exam cuz i got a 68% on one of the qbank question sets and it freaked me out. i had to go on interviews so i didn't get to study again (i only studied for like 5 days the first time). i read the first aid a while back and did about half of crush, but then decided to just stick to questions, which i have been doing for about the last 3 days. i am doing NMS and usmleworld, cuz my kaplan qbank ran out. anyyyway, on the NMS i did two whole tests and not counting the weirdo last 20 questions or so on the tests, i was averaging about 70% per 50 question block. then i did a Kaplan CD question set (not part of the Qbank) and realized that my score sucked at about 68%. then i started doing the usmleworld questions today and did about 70 and my average is like a 62%!!! what the heck is going on here?? i feel like the more time i put into this damn thing, the worse i am doing! can anyone give me input on their scores with these review questions?? i don't want to go into the exam going from a 75% average to a freaking 60% average!! and i'm missing some questions that i should not be missing and i probably wouldn't have missed them before, about a month ago. i don't know if my brain decided to call it quits after all the stress of travelling and interviews!

please give me some input!

thanks

Take a step back and breathe -- as you may have read on other threads, the usmle world questions are way more nit-picky (and not really in an educational sort of way - more in a can't see the forest for the trees kind of way) and it is very common to average way lower on that than Kaplan. As you have seemed to move into freaked-out mode, I would recommend stopping all studying and breathing for the next few days.

The home page to USMLEworld states that a score of like 50-60% would still be considered competitive. It is not designed to confirm your knowledge, but rather serve as a studying tool. I got 68% for about 400 questions and did just fine on step 2.
