I have a couple of questions of the CS exam.

1. For the patient note the suggested format from FA and the NBME is:

HPI
ROS
PMH
PSH
SH
FH

They seem to leave out allergies and medications. Is this the normal for the exam? It seems hard to fit these in with the character limit.

2. While reading about the physical exam they mention things like tactile fremitus and whispered pectoriloquy. Are we really expected to perform these in the patient encounter? They seem more like medical artifacts. Thanks.

1. I took the old exam so not sure about the new exam or format. I plugged in allergies and meds right in between ROS and PMHx.

2. I did not perform any of the things that are mentioned above but passed. I only did Palpation, Percussion, auscultation of the Area related to the complaint and any relevant procedures (example: Murphy's Sign for RUQ Pain). Auscultation of CV, Lungs, and Abd in every case. I believe the main aspect of the test is your interaction with the patient. Don't waste too much time on PE.

Good Luck
