Here we go again...
eleventy-thousand, fatty mcfattypants....

I did a comprehensive study of applicants I met on the interview trail. The true answer is........
183, the first time. The repeat average was 194. Give or take 100 points.

It's like buying a new car. If you have to ask the price, then you can't afford it. 😀

I thought the "score" was equivalent to the price of an in n out burger? So really this could change yearly depending on score inflation.

You'll probably never find a good answer to that question, though many before you have asked it.
There was a thread about a year ago in which people who matched EM posted their scores/AOA status/rank in class. I doubt enough people posted to draw any conclusions though, and there was probably some response bias as well. It has also been said on SDN that, all things being equal, if you score at or above the mean (~216) than you will probably not have any trouble matching into EM.
Like many things in the application process, USMLE scores are usually considered in the context of the whole applicant, rather than as an isolated variable. There are no hard an fast rules for what constitues a 'minimum' score for the field of EM, though individual programs may have their own cut-offs.
OK...shoulda seen the thread bashing coming!! 😀
Yes, I lazily searched through the FAQ thread but like reporting of MCAT's, USMLE & COMLEX scores, there seems to be a misrepresented sampling here of what a truly average score is.
Thank you Margaritaboy-your comments in your post was pretty much what I had thought originally.
