Since it says 'First aid", I am guessing .......step 2 ??
Hi Sadaf,
USMLE first aid step 1 is the one we need to prepare for NBDE 1.

Oops ! I knew I shouldn't have tried to guess.
USMLE Step 1 First Aid book is useful for dental part 1 exam, because it covers some of the same subjects we'll be tested at the part 1 exam.
But is more useful as a review book, more than anything. It has great mnemonics and graphics and charts.
I used it in physiology, microbiology and anatomy.
I didn't understand much their biochemestry, and their pathology was just to wide for me, I needed something more concentrated.
Other great USMLE resource for dental is Biochemestry from Lippincots (spelling?) and from High Yield (don't remember the author).

lippincotts is so voluminous! does anyone know a book where we can get an indea of biochem and understand it without having to go through so much material? has anyone tried board review series or anything else? i am beginning to get the feeling there are no short cuts when it comes to biochem!!!😕

Try the the Biochemestry from the High Yield series. Very concentrated, very thin book. But if you have been out of school for a while, you'll still need to go often to a regular thick book.
thanks meggs.....high yield it is! but if it fails me ....then theres no escaping lippincott!
kaplan, as far as my flipping through it is concerned, is good, but leaves major chunks of info out, so u dont really get the whole idea...........for me, biochem is really really volatile.......nothing stays for long in that little brain already clogged with anatomy, micro/path and what not! sheesh....🙁
plan to start with biochem in 2weeks with decks and papers but i have a very strong feeling i need to do more than that!!
