usmle rx or Kaplan for pre clerkship shelf’s?

I used Kaplan because I was saving Rx for step review (I've heard UWorld>Rx>Kaplan, so that's why I wanted to save Rx). Worked well for me, I scored near the top of the class for every exam that I used Kaplan to study for.

I have never taken a shelf yet. Do you find the questions are a similar feel to Kaplan or is it more of just a good way to review the information in an active way?

I do feel that Kaplan questions are more or less similar to NBME questions, although I honestly focus more on the explanations that Kaplan gives for each question rather than the questions themselves.

How did you use Kaplan Q’s throughout the block? I’ve realized it’s kind of hard to comb through and do questions on material that you’ve covered

Yeah, I haven't quite figured this out either, and it really bugs me. In the beginning I just used Kaplan for our end of block exams. However, during my last block, I ended up using Kaplan for two of our biweekly in-house exams, and did super well on those exams. Fortunately it worked out well because that block was a combined renal/pulm block, and the two exams I used it for were the last renal exam and the last pulm exam, so I knew all of the material by then. I'm thinking I'm just gonna have to suck it up from now on and take the time to comb thru and find relevant questions, since it worked so well. Annoying to do but probably worth it. =/
