USMLE step 2

I am debating whether to take the USMLE step 2 at the end of November vs end of February (ie results would return after the match). I'm pretty happy with my step 1 score.

Do programs care about step 2 when deciding on final rank list? If not, then I'd be more inclined to wait.

the step two can definitely help if step one was weak- i think the issue is do you need it to complete your application? I can't remember the answer but make sure you know for your own sake! (and then post it here for others).

i know it helped me. my step 1 was in the low 220s... but my step 2 was high 230s... i think if you dont have atleast a 230 in your step 1 or strong research background, a high step 2 score can definitely make a difference.
