I am currently studying at a medical school in Mexico that is recognized in the United States (UANL just in case it helps in any way.) I am the class of 2015 because in Mexico students enter their career of choice directly upon finishing high school, in other words we skip basics, so from start to finish the career is 6 years long. I know relationships between the United States and foreign countries are changing dramatically, especially when it comes to accepting foreign medschool graduates to residency programs and such because there will be an imminent shortage of doctors in the next few years. My question is, I know that American students take the USMLE tests while they are still in medschool, must I do the same if I plan on practicing in the USA? That is, must I take them throughout my schooling here in Mexico, or do I take them after my graduation because I am in Mexico? If someone could give me a nice time line with all of the important things I must do during the next six years to be able to apply for a residency program that would be greatly APPRECIATED!! I am just so confused, I don't know if my calendar looks the same as an American student's calendar. Does the fact that I'm doing my schooling in Mexico bring any complications even though I am planning on doing my specialty in the USA? THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!
