Hi guys,

I hate to post this but I can't figure out if it's just me or not. I've been doing the USMLERx qbank and suddenly a few minutes ago I'm getting this error when I try to login:

"Error while execution. Please contact USMLERx Team."

It's red and at the top left of the page. I sent them a message on their shady looking contact us screen but I'm hoping it's doing this for everyone so they fix it fast. Anyone else seeing this trying to login?

Thanks

Oh I feel a bit better knowing its not just me having this problem.

However it will definitely mess with my schedule now which sucks.

Fixed now. They sent an apologetic email to me as well. But no mention of the missing test. I have no tests or record of my missed questions from May 🙁

I want to review all the questions I did today. My account is still not working. I honestly wished they fixed the qbank. Why can't I remain logged in for an extended period of time?

Hmm my log in info has been erased it seems.

When I try to reset password, it tells me my email is not in their database..

great...

I am able to login now. except all my exams from may are gone. wtf

So, what's probably happened is:
1. Their database crashed, likely with a storage failure
2. They restored from an old database backup (say late April)
3. Now any exams (and new users!) from May are lost

What'll happen next is:

- 🙂 If they're smart, and have SQL binlogs enabled, they'll roll back to the exact problem point and everything will be perfect.

- 🙁 If they're sorta' competent, they'll resort to a daily backup from yesterday (instead of last month). They'll roll back to that, and *anything people have done in the past few hours will be lost.* This is pretty likely.

- :scared: If they're not competent, they won't have binlogs OR recent backups. The past month (including new users) has been destroyed.

I can't say I have much hope this'll end well. They should disable access to everyone /now/ and fix this correctly. Otherwise /new/ tests, etc. are being added to an /old/ database and it's going to be a nightmare to merge conflicting updates with a more recent backup of the database (if that even exists ...).

I'm missing a ton of completed blocks as well. This is ridiculous! >.<

I just signed up a few days ago for one month... now they say I don't even exist. 🙁

I hope they don't make off with my money like bandits and ignore my existenCe

Yeah .... feeling insecure now ... WTH I wanted to do UsmleRx the whole day....

Good news:

They sent me an email saying they will look into my account info provided I give them my username and the last four digits of my CC.

I suppose this is good, but it also corroborates the theory that they probably do not have daily backups. (I signed up last Sunday)

They emailed me saying that they have experienced "brief" interruption in their services. Their team is in midst of recovering all data that was in their database. They will have everything running by today (19th) evening.

why don't they just publish this information on their website instead of individually emailing users? this is bizarre.:smack:

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one. I was about to start a thread. I can't log in and apparently I don't exist in their system anymore. This stinks. I need to take a biochem quiz!!

It seems to be restored for me now, except for the last 1hr or so before it went down.

I am getting really really really tired of UsmleRx being down as often as it does. Even when it is not down it is extremely buggy and logs me off when i am going over exams.

If you have a Mac, you can store your password in Keychain and that way you won't be logged off. It only took me a year to figure that out...
I complained to USMLERx before figuring it out and they told me to empty my cache (as if I'm going to do that every single time).
