I've been doing UW for several weeks and have been kicking butt, except on the biochem questions. I'm sorry, but most of these questions seem absolutely ridiculous. Most of the questions say "20% of people got this right" at the bottom, or even less. Does anyone have feedback as to whether the USMLE are like the UW practice ones? Thanks.

most people are getting their butt kicked by every subject so be happy that its just one for you first of all.. secondly.. UW is a learning tool.. are you learning from the mistakes youre making? Good, you wont make them again, you dont need to do more, just practice practice practice.

Yeah, they are similar. I had 2 questions in the same block (!) about MCAD/carnitine deficiency...one was a description where the answer was looking for the enzyme (MCAD) and the other gave a short description and asked what pathway was involved. I had pretty similar things about MCAD on UW if I remember, and the other questions I felt were covered well, too. But they are similar.

One question 9% got right is beyond me. It wasn't that hard. I guess no one knew there was another name for Lactose.

Galactosyl B 1,4 glucose. Pretty straightforward if you know the constituents of Lactose.

Agreed.

Although on a lot of these questions, I think to myself "how on earth did 80+% miss this?? And then I picture everyone in my class and I think "ok, yeah I guess I could see how a lot of people missed this."

I had no idea what galactosyl glucose was (brain fart, I guess), but if I recall, the question was pretty obviously talking about lactose intolerance. I figured the step leading to galactose was the one screwed up.
