Hey there,

I've been looking at the USMLEworld website, and I can't figure out if I can buy, say a 3 mo subscription, and not activate it until later (say a few months from now).

Thanks

Ummm... also not clear if your here answering questions, or if we're just supposed to email you above.

I remember jotting down your prices couple of wks ago, but in looking at your listed prices for the Qbanks, it seems like it's highter than the ones that I've jotted down. Did your recently increase the Qbank prices?

Also, if one purchases any of the Qbanks, how long does one have before one needs to activate the Qbank?

For Step 1 do you have the audio/video questions now that the USMLE uses them?

How recently have the Qbanks been updated? Are they all 2008/2009 questions?

I don't think i came across any audio/video questions, i am interested in knowing about this as well since i already have a 6 month package. Some questions haven't been updated since 2007, although the questions i have done are fairly a small percentage and probably don't speak for the whole qbank. Anyways uworld has an option to reset your account if you sign up for a 6 month or longer package, a good deal!

The last adjustment of our Step 1 course material prices was almost 3 months ago so we are unsure if you jotted the prices of our Step 1 offering or Step 2 offerings.

Your subscription will start immediately after the purchase once a successful transaction is made. If you do not want to start your subscription immediately, you can notify us with your desired start date with-in 24 hours of subscription purchase. This deferment option is available for Step1, Step2 CK and Step3 MCQ qbanks only on a courtesy basis.

Our authors and developers are working on adding Audio/Video questions, however an exact tiime frame of when they will be available is not available. We recommend you continue to check our website for any updates in that regards.

We update questions based on any new research or change in procedures. Since Step 1 exam deals mainly with core science concepts (which do not change as frequently as Step 2 and Step 3 material) they are updated as necessary.

Are there any discounts available for being part of a professional society?

Are there any discounts available for being part of a professional society?

Unfortunately, we do not offer discounts to individual subscribers for purchase of a new subscription based on their affiliation with any professional organization/society.

I recently used UWorld for my Step 1 preparation.

My question: I would like to go through the material once again--are you working on an option to do multiple 48 question tests in sequence without seeing your score in between question blocks (possibly a "withhold score option")?

I know the self assessments are available to buy, but I would also like to use some of my "incorrect / marked" questions again in sequential blocks without seeing my score breakdown before starting another block of 48 questions.

Thanks!

I am currently using UWorld for step 1, and I see that the questions have ID numbers. I have classmates who are also using UWorld, and I would like to refer them to the same question number so that we can discuss the question together. I was wondering if there is a way to look up a question by the ID?

Thanks!

If I were to organize I bunch of students from my class to all sign up, would we be eligible for a group discount?

Does USMLE World maintain any data on the scores and test prep habits of your users? It seems there are many ways to use your QBank, and I'm curious if one method has risen to the top or proven more effective.

Would you suggest that USMLEWorld questions be used along with coursework, or moreso just for board prep?

Our authors and developers are working on adding Audio/Video questions, however an exact tiime frame of when they will be available is not available. We recommend you continue to check our website for any updates in that regards.

So, before this summer possibly? Or will we not get to see them if we are taking Step 1 this year?

For USMLE World Step 1, if I were to purchase a subscription of 3 months, but then decide that I need it for another month, could there be a 1 month extension or would I have to repurchase the subscription?

Hi,

Does the analysis of exams include letting you know how you are specifically doing on certain subjects so you can identify your problem areas?

Thanks!

why dont u give the option for a renewal to an exisiting account + 2 practice mock exams at a discounted price? u dont give that option for a renewal just the bank it self to people who have previously purchased u world. honestly i dont care about this whole raffle business just put that option on your website.

From: http://www.usmleworld.com/step1QbankMain.asp. You'd have to pay $60 for a month extension.

Qbank Subscription Renewals:
Renewals are offered for current active subscription at different pricing. Users can renew the Qbank subscription for 1-week ($25), 15-days ($40), 30-days ($60), 60-days ($110) and 90-days ($150) duration by paying renewal fee. Users should renew the subscription prior to expiration date. Renewals are not offered for expired subscriptions.

What's the point? I can see why you'd want to extend the qbank but the assessment is a different story. Obviously you only save $5 by renewing the exams and it seems to me that it would make sense to only take the self-assessment once to see what you should be focusing on.

Self-Assessment Exam Renewals:
Users can renew each Self-Assessment Exam Forms for 2-week period by paying renewal fee of $25.

I already have a UWorld Qbank so don't enter me in the raffle, but question about it:

I assume you periodically update the material to represent the most recent exam content. Is this done regularly or in one big update? Are there any planned changes/additions to content between now and June/July?

@ newbie04: Not an option in our Step 1 qbank and that is the primary reason Self-Assessment Exam Module was created.

@ leahmaria: All test block in the qbank are generated in a random order based on your selection of test and subject. Additionally, the feature you seek is currently not possible in our qbank. The best way to accomplish what you desire would be to generate a test block using a very small subset such as Genetics from Main division and Neurology from sub-division.

@mlw47: To inquire about group discounts, please contact us (via our website) with below information.
- Number of students in the group
- Subscription length (90/180/360 days)
- School Name (or group name)
- Desired Qbank
- Contact telephone and available timings

@skubdubdu: Each user has their own study habit depending on what they want to achieve such as improving their knowledge, improve their speed in answering question or learning new concepts. Since each user’s goal is different their approach will be different also. Most users have their own method devised that has helped them in the past and tend to continue using it.

@ f1re11: We do not recommend our qbank material for use with your regular course work as it is mainly designed to prepare for the USMLE exam. Additionally, you might find some concepts harder to grasp if your course work has not covered those areas.

@ gocoastal: When items are in review by our developers and authors we typically do not know of any timeline associated with it. It is recommend you check our website for latest news and updates as the announcement for this (when it occurs) will be posted there.

@ alwaysaangel: Yes, you can review your Cumulative Performance on our qbank which gives you a quick breakdown of your performance in our qbank.

@ sd1984: Renewals are offered for any material currently active in a subscribers account. If the course material you prefer to renew is not active and has expired it is not eligible for renewal purchase.

@Depakote: We update questions based on any new research or change in procedures. Since Step 1 exam deals mainly with core science concepts (which do not change as frequently as Step 2 and Step 3 material) they are updated as necessary.

Do you provide answers and explanations for the self assessments or just a performance analysis?

Do you provide answers and explanations for the self assessments or just a performance analysis?

We provide answer and explaination of the self-assessment module questions in the same fashion as the regular qbank.

Thanks for participating in SDN's Test Prep Week so we can become familiar with the USMLEWORLD Step 1 QBank before we begin sudying for the Step I. It looks like it is very flexible and can be set to accomodate various ways of learning. I like that one can choose to be tested only on the disciplines where one needs more review. I can see how it would be useful to me to choose timed, untimed, or a tutor mode, depending on my objective for the day.

If you purchase a combo package, when does the 2 week timer start for the self-assessments? From the time of purchase or completion or..? Thanks!

how do you enter the USMLE WORLD raffle?

Are you able to print out any material, such as performance assessments on the exams and the question banks?

From: http://www.usmleworld.com/step1QbankMain.asp

**Note: Access to individual self-assessment exam subscription is independent of the Qbank for combination packages. Each self-assessment exam subscription can be activated at any time and is valid for 2-weeks period from the time of activation.

was wondering if USMLEWorld uses the most current interface that we'll likely see on the real thing

Have heard from many sources that this is one of the best question banks for Step 1, so will definitely be subscribing to it, although it'd be even better to win the raffle!

I'm entering school in the fall. At what time over the next 2 years should I purchase a question bank?

@pnp366: Depending on the amount of user participation in this thread there is a possibility of a raffle for a 30-day Step 1 Qbank + Self-Assessment Form 1 + Self-Assessment Form 2 subscription. We can offer a courtesy deferment of the subscription start date to the winner of raffle.

@cobaltgreen: Printing, saving, copying, screen capture, etc. of USMLEWorld Qbank materials is strictly prohibited. You can however save your cumulative performance.

@DrKuroneko: Yes, our qbank interface replicates the FRED interface you will encounter in your actual exam.

@Art Vandelay2: It strictly depends on when you plan on taking your exam as our course material is designed to help you prepare for the exam.

hey Uworld,

do you provide any discounts for Step 1 and Step 2 qbanks subscriptions as a combo? I am planning on taking step 2 a couple of months within the start of my rotations and step 1 during the upcoming summer season.

also, regarding group subscription discounts, according to your above post, what is the minimum number of students do you accept in order to qualify for a discount? for a 3month subscription. I have 5 of my friends who will get the subscription, but i can convince others if u can tell me the minimum number of students to qualify for a subscription. thanks you

I've heard the same. I'll be getting my USMLE World Qbank either by subscription or raffle win, and my decision has been based mainly on opinions of trusted classmates ahead of me.

How do you enter the USMLE World Raffle?

Does USMLE World have FRED 2, as I've seen advertised for other QBanks, or just FRED 1? Also, I'd love to enter the raffle for USMLE World Step 1 subscription.

Is UWorld mac compatible? and if yes what are the system requirements?

Please enter me into the raffle if there is one...my question is when can we expect to see FRED V2.0 questions, in other words questions that are dependent on previous answers and will UWORLD ever expand the size of their qbank to 2300+Q to compete with some other larger qbanks out there?

FYI: Read the rules about the raffle. It states you have to be an existing member with at least 20 posts... or something along those lines.

@simpleman: We do not offer discounts for purchase of multiple subscription at the same time for an individual subscriber. As for group discount, it is based on number of guaranteed subscribers for purchase of a 3/6/12 month Step 1 or Step 2 qbank. The minimum group size to qualify for any type of group discount is 25 subscribers.

@Colbert: USMLE has recently announced that they will start offering Step 1 exam in FRED v2 interface at limited test sites and will eventually phase out FRED v1 interface. Our Step 1 qbank currently is available via FRED v1 interface and a FRED v2 interface will be available in near future when a large major of our users report using FRED v2 interface at their respective test center(s).

@Hednej: All of our qbank offerings are Windows and Macintosh compatible. You can review your system requirements on our help page at http://www.usmleworld.com/help.asp under “What type of computer/network can I use?” section.

@ommy48: We are proud of our Step 1 qbank questions and the high quality content it has and have a large user base that can attest to that fact. We add questions to our qbank as necessary, since Step 1 mainly deals with core principals and we believe we have covered the most in that area with our current offering of questions. Our authors will get a chance to review this thread at the conclusion of test prep week so they will also get a direct idea of what type of requests are being made for implementation.

will uworld ever come out with a flash card product like usmlerx has?

Hi!

Can you tell me how long you have access to the question bank after you purchase it? Is there a way to defer it if you don't want to use it (or start and realize you're not ready), yet?

Also, do you have any material you can download to a Palm device?

Thanks!

Well I've heard good things about USMLE World but I'm still not sure which qbank to get. Any particular pros for this over another qbank?
Hope you guys have a raffle after all.

I've heard that the USMLEWorld questions are very "concept-oriented." Does this mean that it would be better to have memorized key facts before attempting the questions?

I know that USMLERx has had references to topics/ page numbers first aid. So I just learned from the Kaplan forumthat Kaplan's Qbank is also referencing first aid as well. Does USMLEworld plan on doing something similar? I would think there'd be a copyright issue, but if Kaplan is doing it, then I thought it could become a possibility.

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=7634544#post7634544 For those of you who were confused about the raffle thing...

Does Uworld offer sample practice qbank questions available to those trying to scope out which qbank they want to get? I've heard a lot of great things about Uworld, but it seems a lot of people are really into Kaplan's qbank.

Do you have any information on how scoring on your self-assessments compares to actual board scores?

Thanks for the info.

@dingleberry007: We currently do not have any plans to have a flash card type product. However, this may change in future depending on user request.

@DoctorDreamer: Access to our course material depends on the duration of subscription you purchase and can vary from 30-days to 360-days. Once a subscription has been started it cannot be suspended or postponed for a later date. You can however request a deferment of your subscription start date before you start using it and we will accommodate it on a courtesy basis.

Mobile devices lack the necessary resolution of 1024x768 pixels, hence our services cannot be used from any mobile (or) any hand-held devices.

@Cirrus83: What distinguishes us from other review sources and competitors is that all of our materials are created by real-life physicians who specialize in various fields. Each question of our Qbank requires a unique and systematic 2-3 step thinking process. These distinct, sophisticated, and multi-faceted practice test questions are not offered by other educational sites, which is extremely beneficial for strengthening one's critical thinking, judgment, and test-taking skills. Unlike other competing services, our high yield content will undoubtedly help subscribers master the content of the USMLE, achieve exceptionally high test scores, and obtain competitive residency placement. Likewise, our precise, user-friendly, board-simulated interface is similar to the actual USMLE exam with minimal downtime. We also outshine our competitors with our fast, efficient, and friendly customer service.

@igottaquestion: That is correct but you can also use our qbank to test what your weak areas are and then work to improve those areas.

@zeephro: Our content authors rely on multiple texts and resources for the questions hence we do not offer reference information.

@Captain Fantastic: Most questions in our qbank are written for analysis of the key facts included in the question before you can arrive to a response.

@Jwax: We do not offer guest accounts to test our Qbank software. However, you can view a non-interactive demo of our software from each of the Qbank pages (or the link posted in our initial post). You will need to have Adobe Flash installed on your system to view the demo.

@cpants: The scores we provide in our self-assessment exam module varies by 10 points depending on how close you took our self-assessment exam and your actual exam. As the duration between your taking the self-assessment exam on our site and your actual exam increases so does the variance in the accuracy of the score.
