Are you going? or are you gonna stick with MWU?

Hi, I haven't received an interview for USN, should I call Dr. DeYoung or other admin staff or should I just wait it out? Let me know what you think. thanks!

i'll probably decline USN, since I've already committed to going to MWU_CPG.

I really didn't think I would hear from USN considering my GPA is not very stellar. If you will get an interview, you should receive an email from Deyoung.

Hey guys, no worries about USN. When I talked to Dr. DeYoung on the phone, my interview on the 13th was the second week of interviews. And from the dates that I found out from other interviewees...there's still a lot of dates left. From what I know, they have 2 interview days every other week. So this week, it's the 13th and 15th. Then there's a week break, and the week after it's on monday and wednesday...and so on. Each interview day, they see about 35 students, at least that's how many that was there when I went. Dr. DeYoung mentioned that there's going to be about 190-200 spots that will be filled for this year. He also said that people will get a call personally by him if they get admitted, a few will get one about 2 weeks after their interview, and the rest, by the end of May. So, they wait to see everyone before they send out rejection letters. USN is really about the GPA when it comes to the interview. Everyone I talked to had relatively high GPA's, either with or without academic forgiveness. I'm assuming if you have at least a 3.4 or 3.5 in both the overall and pre-req's, you should be a shoe in for the earlier interview spots. I hope this helps. For those who don't have an interview yet, there's still hope, just don't give up. 🙂

Looks like we'll be at the same interview! I wanted an earlier date, but I work in a "fancy" restaurant and Valentine's Day is one of my most profitable days of the year.
I'm really nervous, too. This is my first interview and I'm terrified of screwing it up!
See you there!

Wow, that seems odd because I always thought USN gave interviews based on overall GPA, pre-req GPA, pre-reqs completed and degrees obtained. Do you have an overall 4.0 GPA or pre-req GPA? Maybe it also depended on when you turned in your application.

It seemed like everyone at my interview session on Jan. 18th had a 4.0 GPA or close to it. I guess if you turned in your application late or close to the deadline then you would not be part of the first interviewing group as I received my interview invitation on Dec. 10th.

Well you have an interview anyway! Good luck! :luck:

Yeah, tell me about it. I was sweating it. What's even odder is that none of the other schools that I applied to have contacted me for an interview (yet). And they require the PCAT and I got a 97. Oh well, maybe Mercer did not like my pic. I'm not exactly a hot chick!

the interview went pretty well. I had 2 faculty members...one PharmD and one PhD, and a 3rd year student. the usn interview was very relax. when i first sat down, the PhD kinda slouched in his chair and said "this is an informal interview." it was cool. i was very nervous...and the first question they asked me was "tell me about yourself." i was sh**-ing bricks because i hate this question. Anyways, it ended up okay, because when i first mentioned i was from SD, the PharmD asked me where from...and from then on...it was more like a conversation between the 4 of us instead of them just asking questions and me answering. they are really nice and just want to get to know you. just relax and let your true self shine...g'luck... 😳

hey smiles...how was your interview? i think you had the first round of interviews, have you heard anything yet? do you how many people are going to receiving early acceptance letters? is usn your first choice? did you apply /receive any other interviews-california schools? are you considering choosing usn over a california school?

My interview went very well (I think). I thought is was actually enjoyable and I wasn't really too nervous once it got started. I interviewed with 2 students and 1 faculty member. I think USN will be giving out early acceptances soon as I talked to Dr. DeYoung and he said that they have not given out any yet. So everyone will just have to be patient and wait (including myself). I don't know how many though. Everyone I talk to says that it is a very few highly qualified applicants that get to hear early and all the rest of us will know by May. :scared:

USN is the only school I applied to this year and to be honest it is the only school that I really want to go to because of their unique curriculum and for various other personal reasons. Well actually USC is a close second because I have been a Trojan fan forever and a lot of my friends are graduates or current students there in their graduate programs.. I couldn't complete all of my pre-reqs in time to apply to USC and I don't really want to attend a 4 year university anyway (Maybe if I was younger!). I am going to be 30 in Sept. and I am anxious to get on with my life. If I don't get into USN this year then I will be able to apply to USC next year, but USN will still be my first choice.

I have been in contact with USN since like 2001 so I have grown kinda attached to everyone over there. 🙂 In addition I am looking forward to the change in scenery from San Diego for a bit.

Best of luck to everyone! :luck:
