USP <797> Revision is finally out!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Cool!

Now we just need to get the FDA & the various other state/federal agencies to come together to make a decision if compounding is indeed "manufacturing" or not. This is more a legislative problem 🙂laugh:& lobbied hard against by drug manufacturers).

My guess is...that consensus is not soon.

But, this should at least clarify the issue of compounding requirements for hospitals (oh....and probably add to the cost....is Epic anywhere other than at the blackjack table??)

But, its the retail establishments that will continue to have issues.

Hah! That'll be the day...how long did it take to come to a consensus on these revisions? 😛 I'm interested to see what they finally decided though...I'll read it tonight. We'll see if it puts me to sleep...although, I'll probably go straight to page 15 at first. 😉

I just had my pharmaceutics final and USP 797 was one of the answers and happened to be the correct answer. I just closed my eyes and picked that one. whew!

I could imagine that question. "What is the annoying, non-evidence based, and costly chapter of the USP that has annoyed every IV infusion pharmacist for the last few years?"

So...given that I haven't stepped foot in a hospital pharmacy for a little while, I'd like to hear what you guys are doing in your clean rooms. 😀 What are you all doing now that the updates are out? Anything different? Seen any changes at all...or have the updates not affected you?

I agree 100%.

I have tried to avoid any and all updates I am supposed to know about it.
Our clean room is almost finished...and will be quite annoying. I don't really see the need for me to mask and gown to make a stat norepi drip that takes me 30 seconds to make (of course that only happens when my tech is gone, don't get up off my *** for nothin' 😛 )

My girlfriend says that her pharmacy will have a clean room to make TPN and IVPB with more than 4 ingredients and/or compounded bag hanging for more than 12 hours and an ante room where you can make stats, simple IVPB, etc.
I don't think the pharmacy I am at will have an ante room, which doesn't make any sense, but it doesn't surprise me.
