Okay. I got an interview invitation from the Uniformed Services school for October, but other scheduled interviews (at schools I'd rather go to) have already accounted for all of my vacation days this year. So I call their office and tell them I'd like to reschedule for January. The woman acts like I just told her I was a convicted rapist. "Oh MY! That will SERIOUSLY affect your chances of acceptance!" she tells me. "Well, there isn't much I can do about it," I say. "Well, the committee will not look favorably on this at ALL, I have to warn you."
This is essentially what she said, verbatim. First of all: why the hell does USUHS even bother interviewing in January and February, then? And second of all: are you f$%#ing kidding me? January isn't exactly the week before classes start. I know it is better to interview sooner, but it is THAT big a deal?!?
So what do you think? Should I even bother going? (I have four other interviews in the works: one was last month, two next month, and another one in January.)

🙁 Bummer! Wish my MCAT scores were in! I would trade dates with you if I had an interview scheduled. They told me that I was going to be granted an interview last year, but I voided my MCAT during the August 2000 administration. Sooooo, I think I may get one this year when my August 2001 scores are reported (in mid-October). Can't you swap with someone? When in October is your interview? I think the lady you talked with was just trying to make you take your assigned time slot. They should be able to work with you. You know how admission staff hate conforming to the schedules of others, though (especially with 3000 applicants)!

The deal is that at All medical schools with rolling admissions have pretty much filled thier classes by december so any interview after that is for the alternate list. As for wether or not you should go, how serous are you about becoming an MD, and going to that school. If you are sierous I take a sick day (the whole idea being that you aren't planning on staying at your job and taking a few sick days won't kill you.) Whaterver you choose, I hope you get to do what you dream of doing. Good luck.

I got an interview at USUHS for next week without even getting my August MCAT scores back. While I find this as being odd, I'm not complaining. Anyone have thier interview there yet? If so, how was it?

They won't have all filled them by December this year! AMCAS will just be finishing up then (according to themselves).

I also applied to USUHS, don't forget this school is a HUGE committment! I talked at length with an alumnus, and he kept emphasizing how much of your life you will spend in military service if you go there. If you aren't really considering 7 years of service (after schooling, etc) then you should think about whether you even want to interview.--Any others already interview there?

I will be interviewing there the 25th of october. I am not from a military background so I'm a bit intimidated by the prospect of going there.
