Hi. I just wanted to see if there was anyone out there that was pre-med from UT Dallas that has or is going through the pre-health process. Just wanted student opinions and perspectives plus actual process of the health professions office too. Thanks!

any info on how's UTD's biology/pre-med dept ? I've heard form friends who attend Utd that its quite rigorous.

I'm planning on transferring there...so advice would be appreciated.

hello--I graduated from UTD a year ago (go Comets!--yes I have school spirit, I was an OTM) and I am currently in medical school so I would love to answer any questions you may have. The Pre Health department has changed quite a bit since I went through, but it is a pretty rigorous process--start early, do your HPAC interviews as early as possible, take your pictures for the Texas application service--all the little things will drive you nuts, but if you get organized and start EARLY you'll be fine. Did I mention start early??? message me if you want details...🙂

thanks, I'll probably major in biology, but I've heard that in order to graduate from UTD as bachelors of science, you're required to take all Calculus courses (I-III) and calculus based physics...😱. How are the science professors up there?

I believe you only have to take Calculus I and II (yeah I know "only"--math at UTD can be challenging) and then you can take the calculus based physics or the physics for biosciences class. From what I've heard there's not much difference from those classes and the college algebra based physics class so you should be ok. And I really liked the majority of my classes--the bio professors are top notch, and a lot of them have affiliations with UT southwestern or have labs there on campus you may be able to get involved with. hope this helps🙂

It's cool to see some UTD pre-meds on here. I will be applying in May so I will be applying to the HPE program just like you, tiffi. I have heard great things happen to the students who apply to med school endorsed by this program.

yea, i've heard good things about UTD's pre-med program too. Good to see that there are people from Ut dallas on this forum.
