Hi there. This is my first post,and I just found out today that I was accepted to UTKnoxville. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I am an in-state applicant and a non-traditional (i.e. old) student. GRE scores were Q 700 V 610 A 5.5. GPA 3.65.

I truly thought I blew the interview because my interview team seemed confrontational, so this was a nice surprise. I'm an alternate at both Iowa and Illinois.

For any of you on the alternate list at UT, I will be declining my invitation to attend my in-state school. I really liked UT but the price difference isn't worth it. (I didn't think I was going to get in anywhere and here I am getting into 2 schools. I do not understand the admissions process.) Hope I could make someone's day! Good luck at UT next year.

I got into UTK out of state with a 3.81 GPA and 590 V, 780 Q, and 5 A (bad day on the verbal--I got a 750 on the SAT). Anyway, it looks more and more like I'll be going there.

Thanks! Hopefully my luck will improve and I'll get off the waitlist in a reasonable amount of time. I tried calling admissions yesterday to see if they would tell me my rank, but they are out of the office until Monday. I hate waiting.

when I called to ask questions of Deborah Shepherd, she told me they were very busy with Commencement and until that is over, they aren't really dealing much with the 2011 class. It makes me a little nervous to turn down Iowa when I haven't got written confirmation from UTK I'm in the class, but she assures me I am.

I think once Commencement is over, you'll see some action on the alternate list.

No. I was offered acceptance by mail. I'm not an alternate. It's just that since I accepted their offer, I've not received anything in writing from them confirming that I am indeed in the class. I called and asked when I could expect something, and Deborah told me they send out the first packets in July! So I was nervous about turning down Iowa based on that. But when I've left messages for Deborah or even e-mailed, she always calls me right back. The last time we spoke she mentioned being very busy with Commencement and assured me I am in the class of 2011.

When I called and talked to Dean Brace's secretary she said if we had not been called by them on like the 17th or 18th and asked for our decision, we should assume that they got out paperwork and that we are in the class. I am going on that conversation that they got my paperwork. Maybe I will call Deborah Shepherd just to be sure..... Seeing as I've already formally turned down every other school I applied to, I guess I would be SOL if they didn't get the right answer from me!

That's basically what she told me, too. She said, "If we made you an offer and we don't think we've heard from you, we will call. Don't worry, we're not giving away any spots without talking to you first."

It seems kind of scary, but I just turned down Iowa, so there you go.

If you haven't received any financial aid info, I got mine about a week ago. They also called yesterday to get my address confirmed so they could send the 1st bit of information by the end of next week. Hope that helped someone. 😀

I got the address confirmation call today. They also asked me to send my final transcript, which is irritating, because I didn't take anything for Tennessee last semester--just a post bacc. anatomy class for Iowa State. It's a good thing I did well, even with a lecture professor that I believe was psychotic and a lab professor who, I kid you not, died on the day of finals.

I'll be glad to get the first packet and know for sure I'm really going to vet school!

Yeah, I broke down and called Deborah Shepherd on Friday. She told me they hadn't actually gotten the mailing out but planned to get it out either on Friday or Tuesday. She said if it isn't received by the end of next week, give them a call. I asked if I could at least know when orientation will be. Apparently it's August 19, 20, 21, and 22.

I called Dean Brace's office, and since I will be in Knoxville over the weekend, they will prepare me a new packet to pick up in person on Monday. I feel so left out of the club. *sniff*
