Just wanted to know, whos interviewing or has already interviewed at UTMemphis. Dont really know what to expect because this will be my first interview. And do they make you write an essay?

I got into UT Memphis. No essay, really. They make you write a paragraph "why pharmacy" on some of the paperwork you do, but it wasn't timed or a big deal. Relax they are nice. The dean was a real fireball (in a good way), the interview was great, the students were great, the lunch was nice and so was the tour. There is a 'family' type atmosphere among the students. I loved it there. I didn't expect to like it at all but I did.

Yeah I also got in there and I agree with DHG, it wasn't bad at all. You just fill out some paperwork while you wait to interview and go on the tour. The dean was out of town for some reason when I was there, but the associate dean was great. They are really honest and straightforward about the whole process, which was helpful. And they do a great job of getting you excited about going to school there. If you haven't already, check out the interview feedback for the school, I found it helpful. Good luck!

I know how you feel...the wait is horrible!! I think my interview lasted about 20 min, but that was on the shorter end of the spectrum. They told us that they usually last around 30 min. I interviewed on Jan 19th and recieved a letter within 2 weeks. I think it was dated Jan 24th, so they were pretty quick. I have actually heard of them calling people the day after the interview. I think for me they were still waiting on my fall transcript at that time though. Anyhow, from what I have heard UT is notoriously quick at responding. 👍

They called me the day after the interview 🙂 But I know two other people that interviewed there that recieved their acceptance packets about two weeks later. They take minimum 10% from out of state, I think. Did you not apply to Ohio State? I see you are from Ohio...

Seriously just relax during the interview. Smile. Pretend like you are telling a neighbor or an older relative why you want to go into pharmacy... no pressure. You will have one Pharmacist and one student interviewer. It takes about 30 minutes. Don't leave the interview room without telling them how much you look forward to going to UT and why. 👍

I don't think I'm going to go...it does sound fun but it costs money, plus time and everything to make the trip out there. And I'm married, so obviously I don't need to find a roommate or anything. And according to the paperwork they gave me, the deadline to sign up was sometime in February. I thought that was kinda weird since the school's application deadline was Feb 28th. It seems like more than half the class would miss out on the opportunity to go just because they weren't accepted in time to sign up. Anyhow, are you planning on going there or somewhere else?

I did apply to OSU (great school by the way). But I doubt it if they will invite me to interview. They kind of threw me off with their prereqs wanting Cal I and Cal II and analytical chemistry. Considering none of the other schools had all of those requirements I had to be more practical and take the more common courses first like A&P and Micro.

But it is only $80/person which includes 2 nights in the hotel (a nice hotel, too) and all food, plus the riverboat cruise. We're going, just to meet people and to get to spend another weekend in Memphis for cheaper than we could do it on our own. The deadline isn't for another week or two so you could still make it if you want! I have Sephanie Baker's email if you want it. She's the organizer. 👍

I'm still in holding pattern for choosing between OSU, UNC, and UT... depending on where my husband finds a job. But I have to say I'm leaning towards UT. I never thought it would be that way until I visited all 3 of the schools. I thought UNC would be my top choice but it's not after having visited all of them. I think all three schools are great, though. I just have to wait a bit longer and see how M's job search is going.

And SENSE A LOT I suppose I got lucky with Ohio, my Biochem undergrad degree required all those classes so I had all of their pre-reqs kind of by accident

After going to the interview I was pretty confident that they are going to do this satellite campus thing as well as possible, and my wife and I both have family in Chattanooga so it will be great to be so close in Knoxville. The only thing is it's an extra time of making a long-distance move. 🙁

Yeah that would be tough...my wife is a nurse so we are banking on it being relatively easy for her to relocate since jobs aren't usually tough to find. But if she was in a different field we probably would have gone that route too.

And it's weird...Wingate has a class of like 60 and they have a million people on SDN. UT has a class of 200, but I've hardly seen anybody talk about it! Oh well...🙂

My interview is March 9, so it is approaching very soon. Yeah UT just expanded their pharmacy school so It is a very large class. In fact with 200, I think its definitely one of the largest, but I guess not too many people know about it. I have no problem moving to Memphis because I have family in Nashville and around middle Tenn.

I think overall the interview went pretty well. I thought I was going to be a lot more nervous, but I did the tour first and it seemed to help. I like the school, and the students were really nice. Well It turns out that I am waitlisted at UT. Not so happy to hear that news, only because I just want to know what my future is come August. Im not quite sure how it works or if I am a certain number on the list, but all I know is I might not hear anything until June :-( This sucks.

Not quite sure, Maybe a litttle bit of both. I am an out of state student, and I know a state student who got in who interviewed after me.
