I am currently a Cap student at UTSA. I was just wondering if it is worth going to UT for undergrad premed if i can hit a higher GPA at UTSA and i was also wondering how much harder are classes are at UT compared to UTSA.

For the love of god don't stay at UTSA. That festering cesspool of an undergraduate institution will gradually lower your IQ. And San Antonio is the lamest city in Texas.

Ehhh. Austin > Dallas > Houston >San Antonio > El Paso > Lubbock, Amarillo, etc.

texas isn't the only UT... thankfully we know what your mean. 🙂

That's ridiculously subjective. San Antonio is like Mecca for those who prefer a "small town" feeling but also want the amenities/employment opportunities of a 2+ million population metropolitan area.

I personally detest the chaos and congestion of Houston and Dallas. And I couldn't care less about a city's nightlife. So for me San Antonio, or someplace like it, is the coolest city in Texas. 🙂

(not trying to start an argument here--to each his own, right? I just can't let my beloved hometown go undefended like that.)

Oh, and to the OP, if you're going to go to a public school it really is worth it to go to one of the big three (UT-Austin, A&M, Texas Tech). Which one doesn't matter, but they each breed a noticeably different atmosphere, so just choose what fits you best.

San antonio isnt too bad to me, im just worried about getting a high GPA at UT austin, getting A's at UTSA isnt too hard, i know the material is the same but dont the professors curve to only allow a certain amount of A's in UT austin?

I don't know anything specific about UT Austin--so nothing to say about that. However, it's best to not try and game the system. That strategy is far more likely to come back and bite you in the end. Go to the university that provides the best combination of academic rigor, national reputation, research opportunities if you're into that, campus culture, proximity to family (if desired), and cost. "Where will it be easiest for me to get a 4.0 GPA?" is not a wise thing to be focusing on.

From what I hear UTSA classes are a complete joke. From my own experience I know that UT Austin classes are very doable. My advice would be to head over to UT Austin. You'll get a better education and you'll probably have alot more fun.

I'm also in CAP at UTSA. I don't even know why you would consider staying another year at this **** institution. Your GPA might be higher, but the opportunities here are limited. Limited would probably be an understatement. You're confined to the campus and there's absolutely no legitimate clubs/organizations for volunteering, pre-medicine, etc. Austin is better in every single aspect.

Now, unless you have a GPA close to a ~3.2, I would maybe, but only maybe, consider another semester or two. If it were me, I would still choose UT for the opportunities and work harder.

This has been the lamest year.

This is not totally true. One class, I do agree, is a complete joke. It is by far the easiest class I have taken in my student career. However, there are some that are not an easy A at all. It all depends on the professors rather than the institutions. An easy professor at UT is not going to be harder than a hard professor at UTSA. You have to choose wisely.

Dallas is a cesspool of rich, white, bigoted, corporate drones . I kind of hate it. Don't insult Houston.

I weep for the future.
