Utah and Creighton

Have you been to see the area at the University of Utah medical school yet? That area might change your mind about the RDEP program.

Then again, it's a hefty chunk of change to save.

It's really not that bad, as I am here every day it seems like. It is old, but they are doing some remodeling and building new buildings (that they took out 3 major parking lots for). The prof's are really nice here. Parking's a u-know-what, but the library's are cool. The only drawback I hear is that during the first year, the students in Omaha become close, as do the 15 or so Idaho/Utah kids. When the twain shall meet, they are kinda treated as outsiders for the first little while, if permanently.
Talk to Dr. G. Lynn Powell in the B floor of the medical school.

PS. Dr. Powell said they will interview only those with at least 18/18 and a 3.35 gpa for the RDEP program

Very interesting, since my 3.47 and 20/23 wasn't good enough last year.

I would in NO WAY take that to mean you will get an interview if you have stats above that. It means you can only be considered if you have those stats as a minimum.

Thanks for the insight. I spoke with the pre-dent office & Dr. Powell and got little or no help beyond, "Good Luck." Do you know if you could spend the 1st year in Omaha?
BTW, what are your backgrounds (undergrad, major, etc.)?

They are spicing things up with RDEP this year. In addition to the 10 Utah residents that they normally accept, 10 more students are going to be accepted but will attend "other" schools. The "At Large" program is much like the one at Creighton, but the reimbursment happens after school when the student returns to Utah from a school of their choice. For each of the 3 years after school that are spent practicing in Utah, $15-16,000 are given back to the student.

Hi guys,

what do you think of program at Creighton, Louisville and Naveda? Thanks,

Khanh

Creighton and Louisville are exceptional schools.

UNLV has had some major bumps, but appears to be on the up and up. Funding has been the most current problem, but appears to be taken care of with a curriculum makeover and other issues.
