It makes sense that Utah wouldn't want a Dental school...at least not right now. However, it would be nice if there was one up and running during this cycle (and then it could close up again when we graduate). Our chance of getting in would be extremely higher than they are now. That would be another 50-65 seats for Utah students. Oh well!

That's good, the only thing a dental school in Utah would be is a waste of money.

If I had the means, I would open a private school in Utah. You could charge $70,000 and year and there would always be a bunch of Utah guys who would be willing to pay it.

Utah Dental School was shut down by the U, most people believe that a private dental school will make it to utah within 5 years. The problem that Utah has is their are too many dentists against it, which does not make sense because the dental school will take a lot of dentist out of full time practice so they can teach. Also when 450 out of 500 utah graduates come back to utah each year, is having a dental school hear really going to matter? Also the patients that the dental school sees are really not the same patients that private practice dentists want anyways. The dentists do not want the school so there won't be a public school and thats why a private school will be moving here shortly.

Well thats my 2 cents

as far as I know, every time the utah dental convention gets together, they shoot down any plans for a school here

thats why most people think a private school will move in

Did anyone apply to southern Illinois?

I did and just received an email saying they have my AADSAS app.

did anyone else get this today?

Yep, I got the email yesterday also....It looks like they finally are getting around to apps. Now that I am out of money I am not sure if I will pay to go there for an interview.

Did any fellow Utahns apply to NJ? I guess it isn't the most LDS friendly place, but I did apply there.

Any word?

Okay, so everyone I know has an interview for the RDEP program. Does anyone know anyone who applied and is a utah resident, and didn't get an invite to meet with Dr. Ayers in a few weeks?

Everyone I know will be interviewing, that means like 500 kids for the 10 spots.

3 days of interviews at 20 min an interview, 8am-5pm with an hour lunch = ~8 hours of interviews a day. So i think only about 75 will be interviewing for the 10 positions. Going 8-5 each day seems kind of crazy though. I sure hope there's better than a 10 in 500 chance to get in! good luck all!

I like your numbers a lot better than mine, I hope you are right.

Does NE1 know NE1 that applied and won't be interviewing when he comes down?

So where did everyone get accpeted to and where do you plan on going?

I am just curious.

looks its the east coast and maryland for me. I talked to a guy that just graduated there and said that in his group there were something like 18 LDS folk, so little theres a mini-Utah out there

I do believe there is a little Utah in every dental school. Temple has around 30 in their freshman class. Every school has a lot of Mo's.

Where did everybody decide to go?
