Yes, they have sent an official announcement to this effect.

I am curious how they could recruit a PGY-3 resident in RadOnc. Can a resident leave his/her current program and go to Utah program if he/she really wants to? Does it violate the contract with the current residency program and will get punished?... I can not figure out how it may work out for a PGY-3 position even if there is an opening in Utah program.

Well, spots routinely open up for advanced PGY positions. A resident can leave his/her program and go to another one. This can happen for various reasons both personal and professional. Generally, if a resident REALLY wants to move the current program will not object. After all, from their perspective it is better to get rid of an unhappy resident then force him/her to stay on.

That's interesting that they have an open spot. Anyone know what happened? Utah is a solid program. You'd be hard pressed to find nicer facilities than the Huntsman and the location is spectacular. I'd jump on that if I were a PGY-3 and unhappy in my current program. Good luck to anyone applying!
