Hey everybody,
I'm new on SDN. I was wondering if anyone was interested in talking about UT Houston Dental School. It is my top choice (being a Texas resident). I somehow dont seem to like the whole laptop curriculum of SA and havent made a decision about Baylor yet.

Can anyone (preferably a UTHouston Dental student) tell me the goods and bads about the school?..like what is the curriculum like, or what is the success rate on teh NDBE I and II, or the match rates for getting into specialties such as OMS.

THanks for you help in advance.

Unfortunately, I am not a UT Houston student. But I can say that the laptop curriculum at San Antonio is not bad at all. I was a little skeptical at first, but the professors give you hard-copy manuals, which is pretty much what you need to study. The textbooks are on the computer, but they are really for additional reference... at least so far.

Best of luck to you.

hmm...I didnt know that the profs actually give you a hard copy. That makes much more sense. How was the interview process like at SA? Do they administer the dexterity test?
Was the interview any different at Houston than SA?

Thanks for replying, and congrats on getting into UTHSCSA!

The interviews at SA, Baylor, and Houston are all laid-back and conversational. The faculty are awesome. None of the schools in Texas administer a dexterity test during the interview. The only thing that I remember being different at Houston is that there is a list of required questions they ask you, and then it's you asking questions and getting to know more about the school for the rest of the interview. The questions weren't difficult, just ethical-type stuff, how you study, relieve stress, time management etc.
