I got a phone call today morning .After that they sent an email.My stats
88/4.00/111..a thesis publication,some papers and posters.work experience about 4.5 yrs in home country that includes a masters.

how come they have statrted interviews begfore the deadline

What kind of clinical exam does they have? Can someone share please. I think its PFM ,class 2 but not sure what else.

I got an E-mail from them on the 6th. I had to decline due to a conflict of schedule. The good thing is that someone else will get a chance to interview at this great school. 🙂

It is not the the stage where we can only show our performances rather it is a platform where we need to contribute also.

It is oka...y !!! if somebody is not comfortable to share the stats but atleast contribute to threads about interview dates and interveiw experiences. Otherwise most of us will open this site to look for information and not for contribution ... and without the input how can we expect an output.

This is Just a suggestion, friends ! my intention is not to offend anyone in the forum.

my stats r..NBDE1-90,GPA-3.91,TOEFL-113...has ne1 rescheduled at texas..?

Hi.. Im a new member to the SDN..
I got an interview call from UTHSCSA for the 6th and 7th of Nov.
I'm posting my stats for all those who think that people with lower scores on NBD 1 don't get called for interviews.. I got an 85 on NBD and I know of people with higher scores who haven't got a call yet; so I guess they do look at the overall picture.
The other stats are Toefl- 109; GPA- 4.0 in post grad (orthodontics) and 3.58 in undergrad. I also have a Diplomate in Orthodontics from UK and 7 years of work-ex..
Im waiting for a response from Boston and Minnesota.. Hope they consider my application favourable too.. 🙂

well said! invasalign......u r right the overall picture is imp and people with score on a lower side do get called provided they have an extensive exp as u have.......fresh graduates like me with lil exp have no scope with low score..............😡anyways congrats and good lck👍🙂

I'm a fresh graduate too and got my interview call yesterday.
my stats- 85, 113, 2.92
so as you can see, I'm not strong at all...
you never know what they are looking for!

congrats........did u get any other interview?????????wat place(country) are u from.....i have heard it counts as far as texas is concerned.........

May be you are from the country from where very few dentists apply for advance standing programs. Most of the North American Universities are equal opportunity institutions and implement multicultural approach. No wonder! They accept applicants from those countries having scored significantly less than other applicants.

Any guy interested in sharing accomodation for the UTHSCSA interview on the 6th and 7th of November. How many days in advance should one arrive for it.. And does anyone know when does one get to know the result?

hi everyone.
my application for texas was complete by 4th october but i m still waitin for my call...
my stats are NBDE part 1-90, ece-3.06, toefl-101, masters degree, 61/2 year experience ( including masters)
what are my chances of gettin a call?????? i m actually concerned bout my gpa as it is on lower side....

hi pdoll,

my stats are nbd1:86,toefl:102, work ex 2 years including internship and ece:3.45 . I sent my application in late september and recieved call just a week ago. Don't be disheartened as the applications are being reviewed on rolling basis . Wish you all the best.

Hi All,
I had my IV on 30 and 31.It started with orientation session followed by lunch.Then in the afternoon we had personal interviews.We had interview with 2 faculty members.For me it was mostly personal though technical Q were asked for some people.Just give honest answers.After that we had 3 essay questions.Sorry we were specifically told not to share them but again they were simple and very basic and you can answer them.I did not prepare for them and I have not begun my part II prep but I could still answer them.They then discuss the criteria for technical exams.Just follow what they have sent in application packet.
Day 2 exam was btw 9 - 12.Then we were free.Good luck to all.UTHSCSA is a great school.🙂

how r u all preparing for the interview???

and chennaidentist,so the essay Qs were related to part II subjects???if u dont want to share essays directly with us,can u give us some indirect hints so as what to epect? and can u share abt the practical skills test,like ur experience,difficulty level etc etc coz i haven't received any packet from them yet,so am little bit curious.

and how many do they interview each wk and in total for those 10seats?????? so difficult even to expect anything

The exam was on manikin.We were asked rt max 1 molar FGC and man lt 1 molar class II.The essays..one personal and two subject related.
