I received an email earlier this afternoon around 4:00 to interview at San Antonio on August 8th! 😀

I saw from some other threads that there are other schools already sending out invites too and was just curious to hear from any other Texas residents and to maybe also monitor whether Baylor and Houston will be close behind in sending out invites as well.

Good luck to everyone applying this cycle and I hope to hear from and meet a lot of you!

Anyone else that is interviewing at any of the Texas schools feel free to post up and I can update the OP with a list of users and the days/schools that everyone is interviewing at.

Congrats!!!! Baylor will probably be next. Houston usually takes the longest to send out invites🙂 For the future, Houston also seems to take awhile to send acceptances, so no worries, they eventually get to everyone.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, it's always nice to hear from someone a little further on in things. I really hope to at least get one from Baylor as well, but any Texas school will be more than fine with me!

My personality matched with Houston's personality 🙂 When you interview, you will get a feel for each school, and their style, approach to coursework. I'm also from Houston, and parents were really pushing for me to come home after 4 years away, so I was slightly swayed lol. But in all honesty, the 3rd and 4th year students' stories at Houston really got me. Students getting the help they needed, surpassing what they thought was their potential, everyone seemed happy and excited to be in the dental profession,from the program directors, adcoms, dean to the students. Even without the spanking new building and clinics that Houston will have in 2012, the atmosphere just felt "right."

With that said, all 3 schools are excellent 🙂 Baylor and UTHSC-SA are awesome too. I'm pretty sure Baylor has the cheapest tuition of all 3 schools-they love Biology majors by the way. San Antonio's facilities are nice, and they have a nifty study lounge that is accessible with your ID just for dental students-I think you could even stay all night if you wanted lol. Every school is awesome in its own right! Feel free to ask away with questions, hopefully I can be of some help 🙂

TMDSAS listed my application as being submitted to the schools August 1. I turned in my application about 3 weeks before that.

I just took my DAT, I know you can for Baylor but can you FAX your unoffical DAT scores to Houston or SA?

I turned in everything besides a couple of my LoR's by the end of May so my application was actually submitted to the schools on May 24th according to my TMDSAS account status and an email they sent notifying that it had been sent out. However I received an email from Baylor on June 30th notifying me that my application from TMDSAS had been received so I don't know what to make of all of that. Lol

I don't know if Baylor has contacted anyone with interview offers yet or if San Antonio is the only one to have started sending out notifications so far. Hopefully we'll hear from other members when the other Texas schools do start contacting people!

To the OP, you have really high stats, and san antonio loves high stats, so you will definetely be fine.

Could you tell me more about this? What is the significance of faxing an unofficial score report? I thought those can't substitute for the official score reports

My application was transmitted to schools on 5/27 and got an e-mail from Baylor on 7/8 said that they have received the application, but nothing from the other two.

Just send your official to one of the three schools in TX, they will submit that to TMDSAS and the other schools will get DAT info from TMDSAS. (so you can save a few bucks 😛 )

congrats!!!! but u are making me so nervous...

i am re-applying this year with similar stats as last year, but more dental related work hours (500+)
22 AA and TS and 3.8 oGPA and sGPA
i didn't get any interview from TX dental schools last year.

i contacted SA and they said they received my application around 6/15 (which is interesting since TMDSAS showed my application transmitted date as 5/27).

All 3 schools had about the same amount of people per interview date-anywhere from 10 to 15 if I remember correctly. For Houston and San Antonio-each person interviews with a faculty. For San Antonio, I interviewed with a faculty and a student. Baylor-interviewed with 3 faculty/dean, kinda like rotations, getting 10-15 min with each person.

The only thing I periodically checked on was the TMDSAS site because I delusionally thought that they might update the "status" page when schools sent offers or something. Other than Baylor's email saying that my application had been received the only other time I heard from the schools was when they sent the interview offers. lol
