Knowlege check: A patient with no healthcare seeks advice about a urinary tract infection. The patient cannot afford treatment, what do you recommend to the patient? Is there anything you would recommend besides medicine to help get rid of it?

better yet.......Publix gives free antibiotics.....give some Cipro!

Is the "patient" doubling as the OP? Bactrim and Cipro are both $4 at Wally Mart. You need a prescription for those. If the 'patient' is a male, and the 'patient' thinks he has a UTI--he might very well have something else. Just sayin'.

I suggest that the patient should not post to the SDN.

I would recommend that the patient go to a free community clinic, or find the local local social service can which can get them taken care of.

If the patient were male, lets call him Joel for arguments sake... Joel should also get tested for STDs.

One doesn't want to have the complications of UTI, so one should seek treatment.

One should also drink lots of cranberry juice... the good kind... not the "cranberry juice coctail thats 5% real cranberry juice and 95% high fructose corn syrup.
