So I take the real deal a week from today, the 24th. I've been getting pretty apprehensive, as I feel like I just don't know FA that well, despite doing well so far on UW and on UWSA1 a few weeks ago. Part of me wants to take NBME7 tomorrow to confirm that I really am tracking in range of my goals (my UWSA1 score was right around my original goal, so my new goal is a lofty 260.

Is there any point in taking 4 hours to do a practice exam tomorrow? Or is it more useful to just keep slogging through my final FA pass?

if the uwsa is the only practice exam you've taken then it will be advisable to take the nbme 7 as its the newest and also from the official test makers

I had the same feelings, and I decided to take NBME7 with like 3 days to go. Knowing that this NBME was supposedly the most like the real thing AND that I did well on it was a real confidence booster, so I'd suggest it (both for the confidence boost and getting the latest release of questions from the NBME.)

Thanks, yeah that's why I wanted to take it, Sol, but I think the fear of doing poorly on it was balancing that out. I might as well take the plunge

Didn't want to start a new thread...but what exactly do you get by spending the extra $15 for NBME 7? Thanks

I paid the extra $15 for the NBME 6, but I wont be doing it for NBME 7.. i found it more frustrating than helpful hunting through stuff.. if theyre gonna charge me more, show me the damn right answer.

The only thing good about spending the 15 bucks was that you at least find out on the questions you were unsure on, whether or not you got them right. You know they are right because they didn't show up on the feedback.

yeah, I spend 5 hrs a day on UW doin that already

I'll be taking NBME 7 tomorrow (Saturday) and taking the real thing on Monday.

I still have plenty of cramming to do, so it may not be the best idea. But I need to know where I stand for peace of mind, and hopefully it will be a good transition to USMLE style after doing about 5,000 UW and kaplan q's.

my last practice test was UW#2 - 11 days ago

I took the exam yesterday and I can say based on what Ive read on these boards and my experience with the exam, taking the NBME 7 is a really good idea. I had about 5 questions that were directly from that test and others that were structured differently, but tested the same general concept. Some of them I might not have gotten if I hadnt taken NBME 7

Just curious why you think that is? I'm taking my practice test at Prometric today. I have the real thing next Thurs. At this point I'm kind of reluctant to take NBME 7 just because of time constraints. Ideally, I would've done the prometric practice test weeks ago and just gotten that out of the way. I still have about 30% of UWorld left, and I'm hoping to make a sizeable dent on that by next Thurs. I could potentially take NBME 7 on Mon, but it's such a big time commitment, and I feel like there's minimal feedback on those tests. Any thoughts?

I felt the same way earlier in the week and I am really glad I took it despite not having time to do what I wanted... It was worth it for me
