The online application for the BScPhm program at the University of Toronto is not released until the middle of September. For those who have applied at UofT, what is on the application? Is the applicaiton in a custom essay format (personal statement), or are there specific questions? Do they require any references letters, and if so, how many? I ask because my references may be out of the country later in the autumn and would like to contact them asap. Thanks so much for your help!

Not to be a jerk or anything, but you should read the website. There are no references required, and the application is to input your information (i.e. name, addy, marks, schools, etc.).

Indeed, I have read the website, but see none of what you mentionned. There is currently an application worksheet to help you prepare for the application, which asks for name, address, marks, etc, but specifies that the worksheet is "intended only to assist you in compiling and organizing all of the information required for the BScPhm online application."

My question, is there anything additional when the online applications open up that are not on the worksheet (supplementary questions, references), or is the previous poster accurate? Any insight from those who have previously applied to the program would be greatly appreciated.

I would think xeodragon is right...but you have to keep in mind that the application if different this year in the sense that you have to write the PCAT instead of the UTPAT (I think this is the [only?] major change for the 2009 cycle). From what I saw on the site, and from what it was last year, the worksheet is pretty accurate.

I also wanted to say that the site is really good in telling you exactly what you need. They don't try to trick you or hide any information from you. As long as you follow what they say, your application should be fine. Don't stress🙂

I agree with OverTheCounter. The purpose of even having an application worksheet is to help you gather ALL the information you need to complete the online application. 🙂

thanks for all the kind and helpful responses!

i found that website soooo confusing !

There is A LOT of information on the site...but read it section by section, in the order they have it. They divided everything into sections, which helps (there are 8 of them). I think that's all you need for the application. I know when I first went on the site it was overwhelming, but after reading it and marking down all the important dates, it's not so bad.

The application worksheet is a very good indication of what the actual application will ask for. There should be no spaces for personal statements, extra-curriculars, etc. This is a weird process admittedly, where GPA + PCAT (number-based) will determine your admissions (from what I can tell so far). Also, on the front page of the admissions overview, it clearly states that nothing like references are required (which shows that you didn't read carefully enough 😛):

"Although there is currently no formal face-to-face interview process, the Faculty does retain the right to invite selected applicants to meet as deemed appropriate. Reference letters, and other items such as award letters etc., are currently not part of our admissions process and should not be sent in support of the application unless requested by the Faculty. Details of any additional non-academic requirements will be provided in January 2009 to candidates who submit a 2009 BScPhm application."

Hope that helps 👍.
