does anyone have an opinion on UT's SPH global disease program? i'm interested in global health, and was accepted to their PhD program in Epi, but I'm not sure if it will allow me to study global health primarily (like say, Johns Hopkins would)...anyone have any thoughts or comments? THANKS SO MUCH!

At UTSPH, for the PhD you have your main area, which would be Epi, and then you can choose an area of breadth, which you can choose Global Health. Here is a link to the degree concentrations:

There are two core classes for Global Health, and then a minimum of 2 global health electives in addition to whatever your degree plan requires. That's not to say you can't take more Global Health classes. So to sum it up, you won't study global health exclusively, not in the way that you probably could at Hopkins. As for opinions, I don't know enough about Hopkins program to give any unbiased opinion on the two.
