Hello everybody!

Does anyone who interviewed at UTSW or is a current peds resident there have any idea how many of the residents there get there first choice for fellowship?

I'm a current resident at UTSW and I can say at least that for the past 2 years that almost everyone who applied for a fellowship got one, and most got their first choice. The few that didn't were for reasons such as unwillingness to move and competition within the class for spots.

We seem to be a fellowship heavy program, especially in the last few years. I think my class will easily be 60-70% specialties, more if you count the people doing a year or so before applying. The following website gives the breakdown for each class going back to the 70's and gives a list of where people have gone for fellowships. There isn't any data about percentages of first choice acceptances, but I doubt that many programs officially publish that kind of thing.
