UTSW or Baylor

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would interested in others opinions as well. Not in regards to the general surgery programs, but rather CT programs. I interviewed at both places for CT this year and finalizing my rank list for the upcoming match. Thanks

As far as CV surgery, very few places can compete with the Baylor legacy of excellence in cardiovascular surgery. Maybe Univ of Minnesota or Stanford are in the same league as far as history goes.

You can probably get well trained @ UTSW or alot of other places, but without the reputation.

Both are Top 5 programs, both turn out great surgeons. CVs and CTs, especially, from either program are in the highest of demand.

But, Baylor has more to offer simply due to its program size and surgical facilites (located in The Texas Medical Center) You can walk around and see leaders in their surgical fields - Baylor Chairs and Chiefs tend to come from in-house (eg. Noon, Coselli, O. Frasier, etc.), but, they do bring in great talent as well (eg. Brunicardi, Loebe, C. Fraser, Lin, etc.)
