How is UVA for IMG's?
I saw they take IMG's for prelim spots but do they take the prelims for categorical positions. I ask because it seems like they have 2 years dedicated to research listed on their site, so im assuimg as in most programs the prelims get taken to fill the spots for those in the research year. is that so here? Can someone who knows about the program shed some light. Thanks

UVA has their GS residents listed on their website with the names of their medical school. I see one PGY 4 who went to medical school in India; the rest appear to be American grads.

I'm not sure if you're understanding the research year requirements correctly. While some programs may keep non-designated pre-Lims on for a couple of years to help balance out the call schedule, I'm not aware of any wholesale policy for programs to do that. In programs with required research years or a number of residents who go into the lab, they simply attempt to balance out the number of residents going into the lab with those coming out. I've never seen them using prelims for that specifically.
