A lot of people on these forums do not mention UVA, and I'm wondering if I missed something. I have no ties to anywhere so geography isn't a factor in picking between schools.
Any general thoughts?

I'll shoot, although I am an only an applicant just like you. Reputation-wise it is a wash, so I think it will come down to the intangibles. UVA is in a more rural area but sees a diverse patient population due to its refugee center status and the large area it serves. It also has PF pre-clinicals which should be nice, but requires away rotations during 3rd year.

I don't know much about GTown as I did not apply there, but the things that stick out to me are its Jesuit mission and its proximity to DC. I hear its facilities are older, but that shouldn't really matter...

I don't think you could go wrong with either really - maybe wait until they release financial aid packages? I hear UVA can be rather generous to give OOS enough scholarship to match their IS tuition, but not too sure about that either.

EDIT: Was mistaken, GTown is also PF

Honestly, I would disagree. UVA definitely has a stronger reputation in medicine than Georgetown (and that is coming from someone who interviewed and was accepted to Georgetown! haha).

While Georgetown sounds fancy, it is definitely more of the King of the Mid-Tier schools. UVA is an upper tier (20s ranked) school.

You have two great options here though, Congrats!

These are completely different schools. I'd be interested to hear more of your thoughts because there's no way you have no opinions about living in DC vs Charlottesville... DC is big and busy and has a high cost of living and many opportunities. Charlottesville is a very small town with a big emphasis on the college and not very many people. Charlottesville has a big focus on outdoorsy activities. Georgetown is particularly strong in a couple specialities like ortho and has some good law connections for ex. The opportunities at the two schools are entirely different. They are entirely different feels.
