Anybody have any opinions which program to rank higher? It seems most people have good thoughts on UVa. I personally think its a great program but how does it compare to a very intense, clinically driven program like UTSW. Which would cardiology PDs think more highly of?

The atmosphere at UVa would probably be better. UTSW is known to be a tough program but very respected.

depends on what type of program are you looking for? Do you want to be close of family, or does it matter? Are you from Texas or Virginia? etc...

Obviously just my take, but consider that the thing that should matter most when picking a residency program is you!

Yes, UVa is a good program, and yes, UTSW is a good program. Both will provide you with the OPPORTUNITY to learn. The learning, however, is up to you.

Example: Send a ***** to MGH and you'll end up with a ***** with a training certificate from MGH.

fodder for thought... good luck!

How sure are you about this? Maybe the ***** was never exposed to a training environment that MGH provides - and that could be a turning point in his/her life.

I can't speak to UTSW, I did not interview there. I went to UVa for residency and highly enjoyed the program, the camraderie, and I felt well prepared for interviews and applications for fellowship. Everyone in my class who wanted to match Cards did so, mostly at or near the top of their list (with two going to Cleveland for Cards in the past few years).
