Can someone please tell me approximately what time the interview day ends at UVM? I'm trying to schedule a flight. Thanks much!🙂 🙂

sure no problem....interviews can either end at 3 or 4.

but assume the worst and say it ends at 4 to 430.

So I guess a flight at 5pm wouldn't be a good idea? How far is the airport from the school? Silly Jet Blue only offers 3 flights from VT to NYC a day. Anyone have experience with trying to do this?

yeah so when i went to interview there was no way i could leave on that day.

so what i ended up doing which was cool anyway...was stay with my student host another night which she had no problem with and she just took me to the airport before class in the morning. takes around 20 minutes to get to the airport...i don't know how much snow there is on the roads but cautious driving....30 minutes?

where are you flying from?

im from cali by the way. but i had to fly to jfk via jetblue to connect to cali.

I'm flying from DC and have been trying to find the cheapest way possible to get to UVM. I've been debating for weeks as to whether I should even go to the interview, but I've heard so many good things and I think that I should check it out. If I take the train to NYC, and then fly to Vermont via Jet blue, the trip should cost about $220. Not too bad. I just wanted to fly out after the interview so I could get home sooner. Oh well.

you are staying with a student host yeah?

I'm planning on staying with a student host, but I haven't contacted any one yet because I wasn't sure I was going to go.

Is there someone you can recommend staying with?

ill pm you. i dont knwo if i want to post their name on here haha.

When I interviewed there, I wanted to only stay one night, also. I asked the office if I could request one of the earlier interviews for travel reasons and they were quite nice about it. I made it the airport (only cost ~seven bucks via taxi) no problem for the five pm flight to JFK. I think I was done around 2:30...

i stayed 2 nights with my host and he was cool about it (hell, jlee and i took the same morning flight to jkf on jetblue so that seems to be most convenient thing to do)

i definately recommend staying a couple of day if your from the west coast since it gives you a good feel for the school and the $350 ya shell out for the tix doesnt hurt as much

I live here in Burlington, so this is what I would recommend from DC. Check out the flights from Reagan or Dulles. There is usually a direct flight on United or USAirways for around $220 round-trip. The flight is very short. The airport is exactly 3 miles from the med school and you can leave from the med school exactly one hour from your flight departure and have plenty of time - especially if you have a carry on.
Anyway - good luck on your interview. Mine is scheduled for January 20.

From another Burlingtonian--the roads are in good shape right now, but they were wicked slow getting it done. The snow started falling either Friday night or Saturday morning and the roads weren't clear until Monday. So if you're coming up soon, you're fine, but check the weather beforehand just in case.

Wow, the people in the admissions office at UVM are really nice! I just spoke to them, and they arranged to schedule my interview early in the day so that I can fly out at 5pm. Very sweet of them.

Thanks for the PM, JLee!
