Has anybody gotten off the waitlist since FEB? What's their policy do they only take people off the waitlist after May 15th?

Hi Green Arrow, I am really interested in UVM been on the waitlist since September and just visited again and feel even stronger that UVM is the right school for me.

I was informed that they sometimes take people before May 15th. I believe you should show the adcom that UVM is your first choice, and I would recommend taking a second visit if you have the time. Mary, in admissions, was so wonderful. She took me on a full second tour.

Good luck and hope to see you in Burlington, if we make it off the waitlist....

I feel the same way. Vermont is a wonderful school. I loved it and hope that I too get off of their waitlist.

Thanks' for the info. UVM is definately my first choice as well. I'm from Arizona, so it will be tough for me to get out there for a second visit. I did send a letter of intent to the Dean, so hopefully that will help my chances. Good luck to you too, and I hope we both find our way to Burlington in August.

I interviewed early in March, and think that the admissions folks said that the next adcom meeting was April 26th. But I am not trusting my memory. Does anyone know what the date really is and roughly when we should expect to hear news? I know...patience...

Common halperinj... Share the good news...

I'm not sure what the next meeting date is, but I'm pretty sure its at the end of April. Otherwise after May 15 I'm sure all of us will stat getting some responses. Good luck, and if anyone does know the exact date for the next adcom meeting please let us know.

Highclimber, sorry to take so long to post my good news. But I am still a little in shock! I just got the call on Monday that I was accepted off the waitlist!

I have been on their waitlist since early October. I am so excited, after my interview at UVM, I was convinced that it was the perfect school for me. It took a little time but I guess the ADCOM finally realized this too.

I highly recommend a trip up to Burlington for a personally driven second look. It seemed to have helped me get off the waitlist, and you get to fall in love with the facilities, laid back atmosphere and city of Burlington all over again....

Congratulations!

Maybe this is good news for those of us still on the waitlist as well. There are signs of movement.

Congratulations. I loved UVM when I went there for my interview. Unfortunatley, being from California, I can't afford to go there for a second look, but the first look was impressive. This is really a good sign that the have begun taking people off of their wait list. Congrats all the way 👍 👍 👍 😀

Thanks Halperinj... can I ask you if your online applicant center has been updated

Hello all, I am also on the waitlist at Vermont. I was wondering if anyone knew/remembered if there is typically alot of waitlist movement there?
Thanks

I don't know how much movement there is, but I can say that the Admissions Office staff encouraged applicants to demonstrate their sincere interest in attending UVM. So, if you are sure that this school is a match for you, let them know!

I've sent a letter of intent to the dean. Does anybody have any other ideas on how interest in the school can be shown. I hesitiate to call since on the letter I recieved they said that I could call after May 1st to enquire about waitlist status.

I wrote my interviewer - since they are supposed to be our advocate to the committee. Good luck! :luck:

Thanks' for the advice, and good luck to you as well if you are still on the waitlist. Hopefully we'll all get in.

Does anyone know is UVM has stopped interviewing? Also, is the waitlist ranked as of now?

I'm think they stop interviewing at the end of March, but I'm not sure. In the letter I got that said I was on the wailist I was told that I could call to check my standing after May 1st. So, I don't think the waistlist will be ranked until then, although there have been some, like halperinj, that have already got in off the waitlist.

Do you think they will reject some people from the "qualified/alternate" list of people when they make the may waitlist?

You can have other colleagues/professors/mentors write letters supporting your application, sent directly to the dean. If its been awhile since your letter of intent, and you've accomplished anything worth mentioning, you can also consider writing an update letter yourself.

There last interview day is this thursday...

Are you asking how early to get to the admissions office during the day of your interview?

I actually arrived about 30-40 minutes before the time they told us because I wanted to walk around by my own and see inside the new library and medical education building. They will give you a more formal tour later, but you probably won't go inside the library because students are studying.

If you know exactly where you're going, then I would think arriving a little early (maybe 10-15 minutes?) beforehand is a good idea. I got to talk to the other applicants while we waited and found that it really relaxed me.

P.S. Good luck to you UVM interviewees! I love UVM and will be going there this fall.

I am also going to UVM this fall. I remember talking with several students who did get in off the waitlist - I'm sure there is hope. When considering applicants, I think they look for the answer "Why Vermont". The Admissions office said not to contact them - they have no influence on the decision anyway, but they also said they track those who contact them once the waitlist is formalized - and they keep that in mind when considering offfering positions. It's a great school, loved the people and the fellow interviewees when I was there. Best of luck to you all!

Hi Gulgul!
My scheduled arrival time wasn't until something like 11 or 11:30 - I showed up at about 9 though, and after getting all the information necessary from the Admissions office, had time to sit in on a bit of a lecture and walk around both the campus and Burlington. That was a great opportunity to get a feel for the place and community!

If that's right, then interviews are over, and we can all "begin" to wait in earnest! (hah!) What kinds of things are y'all going to be doing during this spring-of-wait? (or spring-of-accepted - congratulations!!)

So if the last interview day was thursday... does that mean they are meeting this week or next... any body know... anybody's applicant profile change?

No changes in my profile. Just the same message...for months.
